Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for molding plastic articles. More specifically, the present invention is directed to a staged sequentially separated apparatus for injection molding of plastic panels having a flap or tab molded therewith in a single molding and forming step. The present invention provides, among other things, a method and an apparatus for forming an injection molded part with an undercut, the undercut lying generally in a plane of a major portion of the part, the undercut having an open elongate opening and being positioned between an elongate integrally molded tongue and panel. The apparatus comprising a first mold half with a first mold cavity defining surface, a second mold half with a second mold cavity defining surface, a tongue member carried by the second mold half and projecting into a mold cavity. The tongue member having generally opposing facing surfaces spaced from the first and second mold cavity surfaces for forming opposite face of a molded part undercut. The apparatus also comprising means to selectively effect movement of the transverse mold insert relative to at least a portion of the remainder of the second mold half.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to databases and the exchange of scientific information. Specifically the invention disclosed a unified scientific database that allows researchers to easily share their data with other researches. The present invention also allows for the ease of data collection, annotation, storage, management, retrieval and analysis of scientific data through and into the database. In addition, it allows for archival storage and retrieval of data collected directly from laboratory instruments to ensure data consistency for patent and other purposes. It also allows for ease of sharing data between laboratories in remote locations. The present invention also supports the automated creation of experimental protocols.
Abstract:
A terminator for use with an optical fiber access port structure that supports an optical fiber having an optical end face exposed to communicate with a like end face of another fiber, the terminator comprising a pig-tail-free compact supporting body carrying within itself light-absorbing means and shaped to removably interfit with the access port structure to present the light-absorbing means in light transferring relationship to the exposed end of said optical fiber at the port in manner to absorb incident light from the fiber end face and prevent back-reflection.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and system for archiving data. A server computer (or any computing device) receives data transmitted over a network from a client computer, wherein at least some of the data was previously collected by a scientific instrument during an experiment. After receiving the data, the server computer updates (e.g., creates) an index for the received data, archives the received data, and automatically transmits a notification to the client computer that the received data has been archived.
Abstract:
A molded panel for buildings is manufactured in a manner that permits the blocking tab along the upper edge of the panel to be molded in a position that is close to its final desired position. Pressure is applied to the locking tab as it cools, thereby bringing the locking tab into its final position.
Abstract:
The sensitivity and durability of fluorescent assays may be increased through structures and methods using plasmon fluorescence augmentation and sealing of the structure against degradation by reagents used in the assay. The resulting structures make practical extremely sensitive fluorescent assays for DNA and other biological analytes.
Abstract:
An enhanced general input/output communication architecture, protocol and related methods are presented. In one embodiment, a method is described comprising receiving a datagram at general input/output (GIO) interface from a remote GIO interface coupled through a GIO link, validating content of one or more packets embedded within the received datagram, and issuing an acknowledgment to the remote GIO interface that the datagram was successfully received on positive validation of the datagram before promoting the embedded packets to a transaction layer of the GIO interface. Other embodiments are also described.
