Abstract: A motion detecting section 30 detects the attitude of a head-mounted display device worn on the head of a user. A visual line direction determining section 32 determines a visual line direction in accordance with the detected attitude of the head-mounted display device. An image generating section 34 generates an image based on the determined visual line direction. An image providing section 36 provides the head-mounted display device with the generated image. An instruction acquiring section 24 acquires from an input device 6 an instruction to switch the visual line direction. When the instruction acquiring section 24 acquires the switching instruction, the visual line direction determining section 32 changes the visual line direction by a predetermined angle.

Abstract: An image generating apparatus generates a panoramic image by transforming at least one divided area including a range onto which a scene viewed from an observation point is projected, out of eight divided areas obtained by dividing the surface of a sphere having at least a partial range onto which the scene is projected, with three planes that pass through the center of the sphere and are orthogonal to each other, into such an area that the number of pixels corresponding to mutually equal latitudes is progressively reduced toward higher latitudes, and placing the transformed area on a plane, and outputs the generated panoramic image.

Abstract: An image acquisition unit 40 acquires a subject image in which a subject is positioned in front of a background with a single color. An eye gaze information determination unit 32 determines an eye direction and a viewpoint position of a user wearing an HMD and provides the eye direction and the viewpoint position for a display control unit 50. The display control unit 50 performs chroma-key composition such that the subject included in the subject image may become a foreground image with respect to a background image and thereby generates a display image according to the viewpoint position of the user. The display control unit 50 determines an orientation of the subject such that the subject may be made to face the viewpoint position of the user, in a case where the viewpoint position has been changed.

Abstract: There is provided an encoder that enables an image of a field-of-view range of a user to be displayed immediately. The encoder encodes, for a pair of opposite surfaces among a plurality of surfaces of a model for an omnidirectional image, a first composite image obtained by combining an omnidirectional image of a first surface of a high resolution and an omnidirectional image of a second surface of a resolution lower than the high resolution and a second composite image obtained by combining an omnidirectional image of the second surface of the high resolution and an omnidirectional image of the first surface of a low resolution. For example, the present disclosure can be applied to an image display system or the like.
