Abstract: A captured image acquisition section of an information processing apparatus acquires polarization image data including polarization information in a plurality of azimuths. An imaging apparatus information acquisition section acquires information regarding a position and posture of an imaging apparatus. A viewpoint control section of a subject information acquisition section controls a plurality of viewpoints from which polarization images are captured. A point-of-interest information acquisition section sets a pixel of interest having a degree of polarization equal to or higher than a threshold in a polarization image of a first viewpoint, identifies a pixel representing the same point of interest in a polarization image of a second viewpoint, and then obtains a line of intersection between incident planes acquired for the respective viewpoints as a normal vector. An output data generation section generates output data based on results thereof and outputs the data.

Abstract: In an imaging element 28, a first light detecting layer 12 includes an organic photoelectric conversion film 38 that detects light of a predetermined wavelength band and carries out photoelectric conversion, and photoelectrically converts incident light on the imaging element and light reflected from a wire grid polarizer layer 14. The wire grid polarizer layer 14 includes polarizers 48 in which linear materials that do not allow transmission of light therethrough are arranged at intervals shorter than the wavelength of the incident light. A second light detecting layer 16 includes photoelectric conversion elements 54 that photoelectrically convert light transmitted through the polarizers 48.

Abstract: In an imaging element 28, a first light detecting layer 12 includes organic photoelectric conversion films 38a and 38b oriented in a prescribed axial direction so that it detects a polarized component of incident light which is directed parallel to the orientation axis. The first light detecting layer 12 also has an organic photoelectric conversion film oriented in another axial direction which is arranged in a prescribed pattern on a two-dimensional plane. A second light detecting layer 16 disposed under the first light detecting layer 12 includes photoelectric conversion elements 54a and 54b and detects a polarized component which has passed through the first light detecting layer 12 and which is directed perpendicularly to the orientation axis of the organic photoelectric conversion films 38a and 38b.

Abstract: An imaging apparatus 12 acquires RAW images 202a and 202b by left and right cameras and performs a demosaicing process for and stepwise reduction of the RAW images 202a and 202b to generate and correct colored image groups 204a and 204b which represent picked up images with a plurality of resolutions (S10 and S12). Image process parameters 206 acquired in the course of the demosaicing process and the correction process are transmitted to a host terminal 20 together with part of colored images and data of a partial image 208 of the RAW image 202a. The host terminal 20 utilizes the image process parameters 206 transmitted from the imaging apparatus 12 to perform a demosaicing process for the partial image 208 to generate and correct a colored image 212 (S16). The host terminal 20 utilizes the colored image transmitted from the imaging apparatus 12 and the colored image 212 generated therein to generate an image 214 to be displayed (S18 and S20).
