    Abstract: A flexible display and a method of manufacturing the same are disclosed. In one aspect, the display includes a flexible substrate including a display area and a peripheral area that surrounds the display area, and a thin-film transistor (TFT) layer formed on the flexible substrate and comprising an insulating layer and a TFT. The insulating layer is formed of an organic material and has an opening that surrounds the display area in the peripheral area; a pixel electrode electrically connected to the TFT. The display also includes a first metal layer formed in the opening and covering inner sides of the opening.

    Abstract: A foldable display is disclosed. In one aspect, the foldable display includes a display panel including: a plurality of flat regions and a folding region interposed between the flat regions. Each of the flat regions includes a fixed region and a semi-fixed region interposed between the fixed region and the folding region. The foldable display also includes a plurality of substrates respectively attached to the flat regions and a plurality of fixed adhesive members respectively interposed between the fixed regions and the substrates. The fixed adhesive members respectively attach the substrates to the fixed regions. The foldable display further includes a plurality of semi-fixed adhesive members respectively interposed between the semi-fixed regions and the substrates. The semi-fixed adhesive members are configured to respectively attach/detach the semi-fixed adhesive regions to/from the substrates based on the degree to which the display panel is folded.

    Abstract: A flexible display and a method of manufacturing the same are disclosed. In one aspect, the method includes forming a sacrificial metal layer over a support substrate, the sacrificial metal layer formed of a metal material, and forming a barrier layer over the sacrificial metal layer, the barrier layer formed of an organic material. The method also includes exposing the sacrificial metal layer to oxygen so as to form a sacrificial metal oxide layer, forming a display unit over the barrier layer, and separating the barrier layer from the support substrate.

    Abstract: A display device including a touch display panel, a roller housing, a touch bar, and a panel driver. The touch display panel includes a plurality of pixels and a plurality of touch sensing elements. At least a portion of the touch display panel is rolled around a roller. The roller housing is configured to receive the roller and has an opening configured to receive the touch display panel. The touch bar is disposed between the roller housing and the touch display panel and contacts the touch display panel. The panel driver divides a display portion of the touch display panel into a display area and a non-display area according to positions of touch sensing elements contacting the touch bar. The panel driver deactivates at least a portion of the non-display area.

    Abstract: A display apparatus includes a substrate having a first area, a second area, and a third area, the second area being between the first and third areas, a display unit on the substrate in the first area, and an encapsulation layer covering the display unit in the first area and extending into the second area, the encapsulation layer including a first inorganic layer, a second inorganic layer, an organic layer between the first and second inorganic layers in the first area, and a plurality of organic patterns spaced apart from each other at certain intervals in the second area. The first and third areas of the substrate are bent with respect to each other at a predetermined angle, other than a straight angle, with the second area bent therebetween, and the plurality of organic patterns are in the second area that is bent toward the bottom of the substrate.
