Exemplary embodiments are related to antenna tuners. A device may include a transceiver configured to operate in a frequency division duplex (FDD) network. The device may also include an antenna tuner coupled to the transceiver. Further, the device includes a processor configured to tune the antenna tuner for a receive frequency if the device is operating in receive mode and tune the antenna tuner for a transmit frequency if the device is operating in a transmit and receive mode.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for antenna selection in a wireless terminal with two radios are provided. Signals received using first and second antennas are demodulated by first and second modems according to first and second protocols. A receive path between the second antenna and the second modem can be controlled to receive signals according to the first protocol. A performance measure of demodulating, according to the first protocol, a signal received using the second antenna is determined. The performance measure may be determined using a mirror module in the second modem or using a search module in the first modem. The wireless terminal switches antennas so that the first modem demodulates a signal received using the second antenna, if the performance measure for using the second antenna is such that the switch would improve performance of the first modem.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for antenna switching without using a radio-frequency switch are provided. A signal received via a first antenna is digitized to form a first digital received signal. A signal received via a second antenna is digitized to form a second digital received signal. A switch selects the first digital received signal or the second digital received signal to be supplied to a modem to be demodulated. The switch may also supply a digital transmit signal from the modem to be supplied to digital-to-analog converters to and then transmitted using the first or second antenna. Additionally, when the modem is demodulating the signal received via the first antenna, another modem may be demodulating the signal received via the second antenna and vice versa.

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided in connection with improving antenna selection for a UE as part of an access procedure. In an example, a UE with two or more antennas is equipped to obtain receive chain measurements for the two or more antennas associated with the UE when an access procedure is initiated, select an antenna, of the two or more antennas, for transmission based on receive chain measurements for use during at least a portion of the access procedure, and perform the access procedure using the selected antenna. In another example, the UE is equipped to determine that an Access procedure is to be initiated, select an antenna from the two or more antennas based on a selection algorithm, and perform the Access procedure based using the selected antenna. This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for antenna switching for simultaneous communication. In one embodiment, a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The wireless communication apparatus includes a plurality of antennas including a first antenna and a second antenna. The wireless communication apparatus further includes a plurality of transmit circuits including a first transmit circuit. The wireless communication apparatus further includes a controller configured to selectively switch the first transmit circuit from transmitting wireless communications via the first antenna to transmit wireless communications via the second antenna based on one or more uplink performance characteristics of at least one of the first antenna and the second antenna. This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus for antenna switching for simultaneous communication. An can include a plurality of antennas including a first antenna and a second antenna. The apparatus can further includes a plurality of receive circuits including a first receive circuit. The apparatus can further include a controller configured to determine one or more performance characteristics of the first antenna at a first time. The controller is further configured to determine a difference between the one or more performance characteristics of the first antenna at the first time and one or more performance characteristics of the first antenna at an earlier time. The controller is further configured to selectively switch the first receive circuit from receiving wireless communications via the first antenna to receive wireless communications via the second antenna if the difference is larger than a threshold.
