Abstract: The positioning capabilities of a User Equipment (UE) are stored in a core network to reduce positioning latency when the UE indicates that its positioning capabilities are stable and/or are long term valid. The UE may provide its positioning capabilities to a location server during a location session along with an indication of whether the positioning capabilities are stable. The location server may enable storage of the positioning capabilities for the UE in the core network, e.g., in the location server or another entity in the core network such as Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF), if there is an indication that the positioning capabilities are stable. The AMF may include a UE identifier in location requests with which the location server may retrieve the UE positioning capabilities if stored at the location server or may include the UE positioning capabilities if stored at the AMF.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for determining a location of a user equipment (UE) communicating over a shared communication medium in unlicensed spectrum. In an aspect, the UE measures a positioning reference signal (PRS) from a first evolved NodeB (eNB) for a first secondary cell (Scell) and a second PRS from a second eNB for a second Scell. The UE reports the first and second PRS measurements and the first and second PRS measurement times to a location server. In an aspect, the first and second PRS are configured according to a common PRS configuration. The location server also receives transmission times of the PRS signals from the first and second eNBs. Using the measurement and transmission times, the location server can associate the first PRS measurement to the first eNB and the second PRS measurement to the second eNB, thereby assisting the location server to obtain a location for the UE.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for no-delay scheduled location requests. In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) receives, from a network node, a no-delay scheduled location request that identifies a future time T1 for reporting a location of the UE, e.g., a scheduled location request having a response quality of service (QoS) attribute indicating no delay. In some aspects, the UE determines, at time T2

Abstract: Methods and techniques are described for initiating a periodic and triggered location in a target UE. After LCS Client requests initiation of periodic and triggered location reporting from the UE, two intermediate responses are returned by a network. A first response indicates that the periodic and triggered location request has been received and accepted b the network. A second response indicates that periodic and triggered location has been activated in the UE. Additionally, a periodic and triggered location request may include a maximum event sampling interval and a maximum reporting interval and one or more location triggers. The maximum event sampling interval can limit UE power consumption and the maximum reporting interval can detect when periodic and triggered location is no longer active in a UE. The location triggers may include periodic reporting, reporting using area events or reporting based on UE motion.

Abstract: Techniques are described for providing assistance data corresponding to a plurality of access points (APs). The techniques include, in part, providing assistance data to a mobile device. The assistance data comprises group data that is common among the plurality of APs. The group data is associated with a group identifier (ID). The techniques further include providing the group ID and a set of AP-specific information for at least one of the plurality of APs. The group data may include information corresponding to a common grid, common location area and/or common characteristics of the APs.

Abstract: A method of providing location services at a location server for a venue includes: receiving a request for location service, where the request for location service comprises at least one of a first identification of at least one mobile device or an identification of a target area; and sending a response, where the response comprises at least one of a second identification of at least one mobile device or an identification of a geographic area, where at least one of the first identification of at least one mobile device, the second identification of at least one mobile device, the identification of the target area, or the identification of the geographic area comprises a venue-specific identification.

Abstract: A Location Management Component (LMC) may be included in a gNB and connected to a gNB Central Unit (gNB-CU). The gNB-CU receives location related messages from any of (i) a UE via a gNB Distributed Units (gNB-DU), (ii) another gNB via an Xn interface, or (iii) a core network entity (e.g. AMF) via an NG interface. These messages can be transported in container messages (e.g., an RRC container for LPP messages sent to or received from a UE; an NGAP container for messages sent to or received from an AMF, or an XnAP container for messages sent to or received from another gNB). The gNB-CU removes the location related messages from the container messages and forwards them to an LMC using F1-AP container messages. Location related messages sent from an LMC to other entities are transported in a reverse manner through a gNB-CU using corresponding container messages.
