Abstract: A light detection device includes a light detector including first detectors and second detectors both disposed along a main surface; a light coupling layer disposed on or above the light detector; and a light shielding film disposed on the light coupling layer. The light coupling layer includes a first low-refractive-index layer, a first high-refractive-index layer that is disposed on the first low-refractive-index layer and includes a first grating, and a second low-refractive-index layer that is disposed on the first high-refractive-index layer. The light shielding film includes a light transmitting region and a light shielding region adjacent to the light transmitting region. The light transmitting region faces two or more first detectors included in the first detectors, and the light shielding region faces two or more second detectors included in the second detectors.

Abstract: A photodetection device comprises: an image sensor that includes first pixels, second pixels, third pixels, and fourth pixels; an interference element that includes first incident regions and second incident regions; and an optical system that causes light in a first wavelength band to be incident on the first incident regions and causes light in a second wavelength band different from the first wavelength band to be incident on the second incident regions. The interference element causes first interference of part of the light in the first wavelength band incident on two first incident regions that are included in the first incident regions. The interference element also causes second interference of part of the light in the second wavelength band incident on two second incident regions.

Abstract: The present application discloses a confocal microscope including a light generator configured to simultaneously generate reflection light, which is reflected from a sample, and transmission light, which passes through the sample; a scanner configured to optically scan the sample and define a direction of a first optical path, along which the reflection light propagates; an adjuster configured to angularly adjust a direction of a second optical path, along which the transmission light propagates; a first signal generator configured to generate a first signal based on the reflection light; a second signal generator configured to generate a second signal based on the transmission light; and an image generator configured to generate a synthetic image in which a reflection image represented by the reflection light and a transmission image represented by the transmission light are synthesized in response to the first and second signals.

Abstract: A light detection device according to an aspect of the present disclosure includes a light detector, a first layer, a first optical coupler, and a second optical coupler. The light detector includes a first photodetector and a second photodetector. The first layer is disposed above the first photodetector and the second photodetector. The first layer is light-transmissive and has a first surface and a second surface opposing the first surface. The first optical coupler is disposed on at least one surface selected from the group consisting of the first surface and the second surface. The second optical coupler is disposed on the at least one surface. The first and second optical couplers are light-transmissive and disposed above the first and second photodetectors, respectively. The second surface is closer to the light detector than the first surface.

Abstract: A photodetection device including an image sensor that includes first pixels and second pixels; an interference element that includes incident regions; and illumination that emits light in a first wavelength band and a second wavelength band. The interference element causes first interference of light in the first wavelength band incident on two incident regions, and guides resultant light of the first interference to any of the first pixels and guides another part of the light in the first wavelength band to any of the second pixels, and causes second interference of part of the light in the second wavelength band incident on the two incident regions, and guides resultant light of the second interference to any of the first pixels and guides another part of the light in the second wavelength band incident on the two incident regions to any of the second pixels.
