Abstract: An imaging apparatus including a light source that, in operation, emits pulsed light to a measurement target; a diffusion member that is disposed between the light source and the measurement target, and diffuses the pulsed light; an image sensor that includes at least one pixel, the at least one pixel including a photodiode and a charge accumulator that, in operation, accumulates signal charge from the photodiode; and a control circuit that, in operation, controls the image sensor. The control circuit causes the image sensor to start to accumulate the signal charge with the charge accumulator in a falling period of a returned pulsed light which is returned from the measurement target to the image sensor due to the emission of the pulsed light, the falling period being a period from start to end of a decrease of an intensity of the returned pulsed light.

Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes: a light source that emits a light pulse onto an object, and a light detector that detects a reflected light pulse returning from the object. The light detector detects a first part of the reflected light pulse in a first period, and detects a second part of the reflected light pulse in a second period that starts after the first period. The first period includes at least a part of a rising period, the rising period being a period from start to end of increase of intensity of the reflected light pulse. The second period includes a part of a falling period, starts after start of the falling period and does not include the start of the falling period, the falling period being a period from start to end of decrease of the intensity.

Abstract: An identifying device includes a light source, an image sensor, a memory that stores biometric data indicating a feature of a body of a user, and a processor. The processor causes the light source to emit pulsed light having a pulse duration of more than or equal to 0.2 ns and less than or equal to 1 μs to illuminate the user with the pulsed light, causes the image sensor to detect at least part of reflected pulsed light that returns from the user and to output a signal corresponding to two-dimensional distribution of an intensity of the at least part of the reflected pulsed light, and verifies the signal against the biometric data to identify the user.

Abstract: A biometric apparatus includes a light source, an image sensor, a control circuit, and a signal processing circuit. The control circuit causes a light source to repeatedly emit a light pulse radiated onto a target part including a head of a target, causes an image sensor to receive a reflected light pulse which is caused as the light pulse is radiated onto the target part, causes the image sensor to output first image data indicating appearance of a face of the target, and causes the image sensor to output second image data according to distribution of an amount of light of at least one of components of the reflected light pulse. The signal processing circuit generates data indicating a state of the target based on a temporal change in the first image data and a temporal change in the second image data and outputs the data.

Abstract: A system includes: a light source that emits pulsed light that illuminates a user's head portion; a photodetector that detects at least part of pulsed light returning from the head portion and that outputs one or more signals corresponding to an intensity of the at least part; electrical circuitry; and a memory that stores an emotion model indicating a relationship between the one or more signals and emotions. Based on a change in the one or more signals, the electrical circuitry selects an emotion by referring to the model. The one or more signals include a first signal corresponding to an intensity of first part of the reflection pulsed light and a second signal corresponding to an intensity of second part of the reflection pulsed light. The first part incudes part before a falling period is started; and the second part includes at least part in the falling period.

Abstract: An imaging device includes a light source, an image sensor, and a controller. Each pixel of the image sensor includes first and second accumulators and a discharger. The controller, while a component of light from the light source reflected by the surface of a target is incident on the image sensor, causes the accumulators to accumulate signal charge not discharged to the discharger, by setting the image sensor so that signal charge is discharged to the discharger, while a component having scattered inside the target is incident on the image sensor, causes the first accumulator to accumulate signal charge by setting the image sensor so that signal charge is not discharged to the discharger and signal charge is accumulated in the first accumulator, and causes the image sensor to generate first and second signals that are respectively based on signal charge accumulated in the first and second accumulators.

Abstract: An image capture device according to the present disclosure includes: a lens optical system L; an image sensor N on which light that has passed through the lens optical system L is incident and which includes at least a plurality of first pixels and a plurality of second pixels; and an array of optical elements K which is arranged between the lens optical system and the image sensor. The lens optical system has a first optical region D1 which transmits mostly light vibrating in the direction of a first polarization axis and a second optical region D2 which transmits mostly light vibrating in the direction of a second polarization axis that is different from the direction of the first polarization axis. The array of optical elements makes the light that has passed through the first optical region D1 incident on the plurality of first pixels and also makes the light that has passed through the second optical region D2 incident on the plurality of second pixels.
