Abstract: Provided is a positive electrode active material having a high capacity and improved output characteristics. The positive electrode active material included in this non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a lithium-containing complex oxide having a layered rock salt structure, and a sulfonic acid compound that is present on the surface of the lithium-containing complex oxide. The lithium-containing complex oxide contains 80 mol % or more of Ni, 1.5 mol % or more of Co, and 4 mol % or more of Al based on the total molar number of metal elements excluding Li. The sulfonic acid compound is represented by the general formula I. (In the formula, A is a Group 1 element or a Group 2 element, R is a hydrocarbon group, and n is 1 or 2.)

Abstract: With respect to a positive electrode mixture layer that is contained in a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a positive electrode active material comprises a lithium-containing composite oxide that has a layered rock salt structure; the lithium-containing composite oxide contains at least Ni, Ca and Sr; with respect to the lithium-containing composite oxide, the molar ratio (Ca/Sr ratio) of the content of Ca to the content of Sr is 1 or more; the sum of the content of Ca and the content of Sr in the lithium-containing composite oxide is 0.05% by mole to 1% by mole relative to the total number of moles of metal elements in the lithium-containing composite oxide excluding Li, Ca and Sr; a conductive agent contains at least carbon fibers; the length of the carbon fibers is 0.5 μm or more; and the aspect ratio of the carbon fibers is 40 or more.

Abstract: This non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises: an electrode body in which a strip-shaped positive electrode and a strip-shaped negative electrode are wound with a separator interposed therebetween; a bottomed cylindrical exterior body having an outer diameter of 25 mm or more, that is connected to the negative electrode; and a sealing body that seals an opening at the upper end of the exterior body and is connected to the positive electrode. The weight per unit area of the positive-electrode mixture layer is 250 g/m2 or more. In the electrode body, three or more positive-electrode leads are led out.
