Abstract: Various communication systems may benefit from appropriate sharing of resources amongst multiple nodes. For example, certain wireless communication systems may benefit from using a single measurement gap for master node and secondary node measurements in a multi-radio-access-technology dual connectivity scenario, or similar scenarios. A method can include determining, by a first network node, that a gap pattern is existing in a second network node. The method can also include enquiring, by the first network node to the second network node, whether the gap pattern can be used for a new measurement. The method can further include configuring, by the first network node, a user equipment to perform the new measurement in the gap pattern, based on a response from the second network node to the enquiring.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for user equipment category signaling. In some example embodiments, there may be provided a method that includes receiving, by a user equipment in dual connectivity with a master base station providing an Evolved UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network and with a secondary base station providing a next generation radio access network, a request for capability information; generating, by the user equipment, category information, the category information indicating, to the master base station and the secondary base station, an achievable data rate for the user equipment over the dual connectivity, the category information being common to both the Evolved UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network and the next generation radio access network; and providing, by the user equipment, capability information to the master base station, the capability information including the generated category information. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

Abstract: For dual connectivity with a UE where a master radio access node communicates using one of an older or newer radio access technology (RAT) and a secondary radio access node communicates using the other of the older or newer RAT, the master node a) sends to the secondary node an addition request message comprising configuration information enabling the secondary node to operate with the master node for dual connectivity with a user equipment (UE); b) receives from the secondary node in reply a request acknowledgement message acknowledging participation by the secondary node in the dual connectivity; and thereafter c) participates in the dual connectivity when communicating wirelessly with the UE. The addition request and request acknowledgement messages are in accordance with RRC signaling of the older RAT regardless which of the older and the newer RAT the master node uses when participating in the dual connectivity.

Abstract: A radio access network element includes at least one processor and at least one memory including computer program code. The at least one memory and the computer program code configured to, with the at least one processor, cause the radio access network element to: generate a carrier aggregation configuration for a user equipment based on capability information from the user equipment, the capability information including at least supported maximum channel bandwidth information and supported minimum channel bandwidth information for each band within a band combination; and send the carrier aggregation configuration to the user equipment to configure the user equipment for communication with the radio access network element.

Abstract: It is provided a method, comprising supervising if a request to provide user plane connectivity for a user equipment via a second connection through a second anchor entity is received and if the user plane connectivity for the user equipment is provided via a first connection through a first anchor entity, wherein the first anchor entity and the second anchor entity are differently identified; creating the second connection if the request is received; inhibiting transmitting of user plane data on the second connection from creating the second connection until a predefined event happens if the user plane connectivity for the user equipment is provided via the first connection.
