    Abstract: A power actuator for a vehicle door locking mechanism includes a power operable actuator lever, a manual locking lever operated by a sill button or the like, and a transmission connector selectively coupling the power operable and manual levers so that they are reciprocated by a drive from the manual lever between locked and unlocked conditions. A superlocking motor is operable to rotate the transmission connector angularly about a longitudinal axis and disengage the connector from at least one of the levers to disable the manual lever and effect superlocking for maximum security.

    Abstract: A latch assembly includes a chassis and a rotatable claw-type latch bolt moveably mounted on the chassis. The latch bolt has a closed position for retaining a striker and an open position for releasing the striker. The latch bolt is provided with a latch abutment remote from a center of rotation. The latch assembly further includes a pawl rotatable about a pawl axis and having an engaged position for holding the latch bolt in the closed position and a disengaged position that allows the latch bolt to move to the open position. The latch assembly includes an eccentric arrangement defining a first axis and the pawl axis remote from the first axis. The latch assembly also includes a reset lever rotatably fixed to the eccentric arrangement for mutual rotation with the eccentric arrangement about the first axis. The latch assembly includes a biasing lever configured to transmit a biasing force to the reset lever at a position remote from the first axis and to the latch bolt via the latch abutment. The latch assembly includes a biasing device arranged to apply the biasing force to the biasing lever. The latch assembly is configured such that when the pawl retains the latch bolt in the closed position, the biasing lever applies a force to the reset lever to promote disengagement of the pawl, and such that when the pawl is disengaged, the biasing lever promotes the rotation of the latch bolt into the open position.

    Abstract: A power release mechanism for a vehicle door latch includes a rotary claw having a mouth to releasably retain a striker, a pawl abutment and a cam surface. The power release mechanism includes a pivotably mounted pawl resiliently biased to contact the pawl abutment to retain the claw in a latched condition and to contact the cam surface when in a released condition. A power drive formation includes an input member configured to receive drive from a power actuator and an output member. One of the input member and the output member includes first and second stall abutments, and the other of the input member and the output member includes a follower configured for contact with the first and second stall abutments during power release of the pawl. Each of the first and second stall abutments is configured to retain the follower and thereby stall the power actuator. The first stall abutment is contactable by the follower to lift the pawl from the claw. The second stall abutment is contactable by virtue of the cam surface of the claw pivoting the output member away from the input member such that the follower disengages the first stall abutment, resulting in the retention of the follower at the second stall abutment until the pawl relatches with the claw.

    Abstract: Actuator for vehicle door locks provides powered shifting of a mechanism component while permitting manual operation thereof. A motor powers a driver annulus having internal teeth and notches in respective axial zones with each tooth being diametrically opposite a notch. A spring-loaded index across the annulus interior has a tail co-acting with the notches and a head co-acting with the teeth and is guided by fixed structure that it can only move angularly to displace the component to which it is linked, by indexing past a tooth when its tail is in a notch. Powered movement of the annulus causes the teeth to selectively shift the index, but manual displacement of the component causes the index to spring past the relevant tooth.
