Abstract:
Apparatus and methods for stretching one or more zones of a web are disclosed. Webs including stretched or activated zones are also disclosed. Each of the zones in the web is stretched in the cross-web direction, i.e., the direction transverse to the down-web direction. The stretching it can be performed continuously as the web is advancing through the apparatus in the down-web direction. The stretching can occur in the absence of physical contact with the stretched zone of the web. Strain induced on the stretched zones can be introduced gradually over a stretch distance. The strain may increase at a linear rate. The stretching methods and apparatus may be used to activate an elastic zone or zones within a web.
Abstract:
A wide area communications network (500) includes a first digital subscriber line (502). A first network interface device (504) connects to the digital subscriber line (502). The first network interface device (504) separates an ISDN channel (508) from a digital subscriber channel (510). An ISDN telephone (508) is connected to the network interface device (504). A protocol translator (512) is connected to the network interface device (504) by the digital subscriber channel (510). A hub (514) is connected to the protocol translator (512). A plurality of devices (516, 518) is connected to the hub (514). A digital subscriber line access multiplexer (506) is connected to the first digital subscriber line (502). The digital subscriber line access multiplexer (506) separates the digital subscriber channel from the ISDN channel (522). A public switched telephone network (523) is connected to the ISDN channel (522). An asynchronous transfer mode network (526) is connected to the DSLAM (506) by a first virtual circuit (524) of the digital subscriber channel. An ISP (528) is connected to the DSLAM (506) by a second virtual circuit (530) of the digital subscriber channel. A LAN 532 is connected to the ATM network (526) by the first virtual circuit (524).
Abstract:
The invention provides a man-portable, non-ground-contacting, ultra-wide band impulse radar system (1), the system having separate transmit and receive antennae located in a common non-metallic housing (2) mounted at one end of a lightweight boom (3), them being a data-processing computer and battery housing (4) mounted at the other end of the boom (3) end acting as a counterweight to the antennae system (2), and the there being a data display and control unit (6) mounted generally centrally of the boom (3), the boom (3) being attachable to an ergonomic hamess by which the whole may be carried by an Operator so that the data display and control unit (6) is in clear view of the Operator, and having one or more handle by which the whole may be grasped and swung from side to side while being so carried.
Abstract:
An interior trim panel for a motor vehicle has an opening for deployment of an air bag and a discrete air bag door that is attached to the interior trim panel for closing the opening and for being opened by an air bag when it is deployed. The door includes a retainer that hinges the door to the trim panel and a covering that includes a frangible flap at an end of the retainer that holds down an end of the door and breaks away when the air bag is deployed. An alternate interior trim panel has another discrete air bag door that includes a bracket attached to the retainer for establishing the location of the hinge line. Another alternate interior trim panel arrangement has an integrated or invisible air bag door that includes a bracket attached to the retainer for establishing the location of the hinge line in an invisible door arrangement.
Abstract:
A cover assembly for concealing an air bag restraint system in a vehicle passenger compartment has an underlying support and air bag door substrate. The door substrate is held in the closed position by flexible tabs that are disposed in a slot at the confronting edge of the support. When the air bag inflates, it engages the door substrate and pushes the tabs out of the slot to release the door substrate. The door substrate then swings open rupturing the covering to provide an opening through the cover assembly for deployment of the air bag.
Abstract:
An Enterprise Network includes a master data management (MDM) system that is linked to two or more data sources each of which include means for storing local management information. The MDM system builds a master management information database that is comprised of some or all of the management information stored by the data sources. The master database in the MDM includes master records each of which is comprised of one or more attributes. The MDM system is configured to only update particular master record attributes with selected management information received from a trusted data source.
Abstract:
An electrical box is mounted on a wall stud, and a wiring panel is installed within the electrical box so as to partition the interior of the electrical box into a user inaccessible wiring compartment and a user accessible module compartment. A protective cover is attached to the wiring panel so as to protect the wiring panel during a makeup phase of wall panel installation and painting. After the makeup phase, the protective cover is removed from the wiring panel and a module having a user operable electrical function is mounted to the wiring panel within the user accessible module compartment.
Abstract:
A telecommunication system includes a digital switch, a local loop coupling the digital switch to a subscriber location, wherein a segment of the local loop includes copper twisted pair and wherein an asymmetrical digital subscriber line is carried by the local loop, the asymmetrical digital subscriber line including a plurality of data packets capable of carrying a plurality of derived digital telephone lines. The telecommunication system further includes a subscriber unit coupled to the asymmetrical digital subscriber line. The subscriber unit monitors the content of at least one of the plurality of data packets, receives an off-hook signal in response to an action of a user, and initiates a first derived digital telephone line of the plurality of derived digital telephone lines in response to the off-hook signal.
Abstract:
A wide area communications network or simply a communications network is includes a broadband communication line having a first voice channel and a second voice channel, wherein the first and second voice channels are derived channels. The communications network further includes a residential gateway in communication with the broadband communication line. The residential gateway includes a network switch, a network interface device in communication with the network switch wherein the network switch is configured to select at least one of the first or second voice channels for voice communication over the broadband communication line.
Abstract:
An electrical distribution system has a wiring module and a switch module. The wiring module is configured to mount within an electrical box and has a wiring side, a functional side, terminals accessible from the wiring side and breakaways disposed between pairs of the terminals. The switch module is configured to removable install in the wiring module proximate the functional side. The switch module has contacts that configure the switch module as a type comprising one of a single-pole switch, a three-way switch and a four-way switch. The electrical function of wires routed to the wiring module terminals and the gap or link status of the wiring module breakaways determines the wiring module configuration and a corresponding switch module type.
