Abstract: Embodiments of this application disclose a communication method, apparatus, and system. The method is applied to a radio access network RAN management network element which is connected to a first integrated access and backhaul IAB donor through a first interface. The first IAB donor is connected to a first IAB node through a wireless backhaul link. The method includes: determining configuration information of the first IAB donor and/or the first IAB node, where the configuration information includes one or more of address information, routing information, and cell information; and sending the configuration information to the first IAB donor. In embodiments of this application, the RAN management network element may simultaneously manage address configurations, routing configurations, and cell configurations of a plurality of IAB donors and IAB nodes in a management range of the plurality of donors.

Abstract: In a communication system, a first central unit (CU) of a first donor node determines a first mapping that comprises a route mapping or a bearer mapping. The route mapping is between the downlink data and a downlink transmission path. The bearer mapping is between the downlink data and a downlink transmission bearer. The downlink transmission path includes a transmission path between the first CU and a target node of the downlink data through a second DU of a second donor node. The downlink transmission bearer includes a RLC channel between the second DU and a next-hop node of the second DU. The first CU then sends the first mapping to a second CU of the second donor node, and sends downlink data to the second DU of the second donor node.
