Abstract: The present disclosure relates to connection reestablishment methods and apparatus, in one example method, when a handover fails, a terminal reverts back to a source configuration, and obtains a selected cell. The terminal sends a connection reestablishment request to a selected radio access network device. The terminal receives a first message from the selected radio access network device, where the first message includes indication information used to indicate to derive an access network key based on a core network key. The terminal obtains a first core network key based on the indication information, and derives a first access network key based on the first core network key. The terminal communicates with the selected radio access network device by using the first access network key.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to mode switching methods, data flow splitting methods, and apparatus. One example mode switching method includes generating, by a first device, first indication information, where a packet data control protocol (PDCP) entity in the first device is connected to at least two radio link control (RLC) entities in a second device, and sending, by the first device, the first indication information to the second device, where the first indication information is used to indicate that transmission between a first RLC entity in the at least two RLC entities and the PDCP entity in the first device is to be canceled. The second device stops the transmission between the first RLC entity and the PDCP entity based on the first indication information.

The communication method includes: An access network device sends a deactivation indication or an activation indication to a terminal. The deactivation indication is used to indicate that a primary secondary cell in a secondary cell group is in a deactivated state, and the activation indication is used to indicate that the primary secondary cell is in an activated state. The access network device is a master node or a secondary node of the terminal. In receiving the deactivation indication or the activation indication, the terminal performs a deactivation operation on the secondary cell group according to the deactivation indication, or activates the secondary cell group according to the activation indication.
