To achieve this, the image of a subject is obtained by sensing the image of the subject. The image of the subject obtained contains a portrait image, and the face-image portion of the portrait image is detected by executing processing for detecting a face image. When a face image is detected, an apple mark, strawberry mark or heart mark, etc., is displayed near the detected face image. Instead of enclosing the face image within a rectangular border, the mark is displayed near the face image. The result is that the user is not given an odd impression.

    摘要: In the detection of face images, features for the purpose of detecting face images can be added on to supplement existing features. A face detecting apparatus includes a ROM, which stores data representing features for detecting face images having inclination angles at increments of 90° in the image of a subject. The face detecting apparatus is further provided with a connection terminal to which a flash ROM can be removably connected. The flash ROM stores data representing features for detecting face images having inclination angles finer than those of the images of the faces having inclination angles capable of being detected by the data representing the features that have been stored in the ROM. Face images can be detected more accurately by connecting the flash ROM to the face detecting apparatus.

    摘要: In a connection check mode, a camera main body sends an electromagnetic wave signal to a lens unit to enable radio communication between the camera main body and the lens unit. Then the camera main body sends its own specification data to the lens unit through the radio communication, and the lens unit judges based on the specification data as to whether the lens unit is compatible with the camera main body or not. If the answer is yes, the lens unit derives from the specification data of the camera main body data on performances of the lens unit achievable in connection to the camera main body. The judgment and the performance data are sent through the radio communication to the camera main body, and are displayed as connection data on an LCD of the camera main body.

    摘要: A digital camera connects to a cradle through a signal line. In a first mode, the digital camera in combination with a personal computer forms a transmission path through a USB interface to allow for communication. In a second mode, the digital camera performs an intervening function for communication between a mobile telephone and the personal computer through a short-distance wireless communication interface and the USB interface. In the first mode, image and other data stored in a memory card of the digital camera can be transmitted to the personal computer and image and other data from the personal computer can be transmitted to the digital camera. In the second mode, the digital camera acts as a transmitter-receiver terminal for communication between the personal computer and the mobile telephone. According to this imaging communication system, since the imaging apparatus also serves as a communication adapter, a host communication unit can communicate with any terminal unit other than the imaging apparatus in a wireless manner, with the imaging apparatus connected to the host communication unit for communication.

    摘要: An automatic white balance adjusting method in which color difference signals (E.sub.R -E.sub.Y) and (E.sub.B -E.sub.Y) are respectively integrated on the entire screen and the gains of red and blue signals are controlled such that the average integration values can coincide with predetermined reference levels respectively. In the method, in integrating the color difference signals (E.sub.R -E.sub.Y) and (E.sub.B -E.sub.Y), the integration of the color difference signal that includes a chromatic color is prohibited. Whether or not the color difference signal includes the chromatic color is checked by whether at least one of a plurality of color signals including a color signal (E.sub.R +E.sub.B -2E.sub.Y), obtained by addition of the above-mentioned color difference signals, exceeds its associated one of a plurality of threshold levels which are set correspondingly to the respective color signals.
