The first metallic oxide and the second metallic oxide are two selected from a group consisting of MgO, CaO, SrO, and BaO. The phosphor layers include particles of a platinum group element.

    摘要: The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a blue silicate phosphor having high luminance and a chromaticity y comparable to or lower than that of BAM:Eu. The present invention is a method of manufacturing a blue silicate phosphor represented by the general formula aAO.bEuO.(Mg1−w,Znw)O.cSiO2.dCaCl2, where A is at least one selected from Sr, Ba and Ca, and 2.970≦a≦3.500, 0.006≦b≦0.030, 1.900≦c≦2.100, 0≦d≦0.05, and 0≦w≦1 are satisfied. In this manufacturing method, heat treatment is carried out in a gas atmosphere having an oxygen partial pressure of 1×10−15.5 atm to 1×10−10 atm at a temperature of 1200° C. to 1400° C.

    摘要: Phosphor and a plasma display device are provided whose deterioration in brightness of phosphors and a degree of change in chromaticity are alleviated and whose discharge characteristics are improved and that has excellent initial characteristics. Phosphor of the present invention is an alkaline-earth metal aluminate phosphor containing an element M (where M denotes at least one type of element selected from the group consisting of Nb, Ta, W and B). In this phosphor, a concentration of M in the vicinity of a surface of the phosphor particles is higher than the average concentration of M in the phosphor particles as a whole. A plasma display device according to the present invention includes a plasma display panel in which a plurality of discharge cells in one color or in a plurality of colors are arranged and phosphor layers are arranged so as to correspond to the discharge cells in colors and in which light is emitted by exciting the phosphor layers with ultraviolet rays. The phosphor layers include blue phosphor, where the afore-mentioned phosphor is used as the blue phosphor.

    摘要: The present invention aims at realizing a PDP and a mercury-free fluorescent lamp feasible to maintain excellent luminescent characteristics over long periods by suppressing time-lapse changes in luminescent characteristics of a phosphor that is excited by vacuum ultraviolet light to thereby emit light. To accomplish this object, the oxide phosphor of the invention comprises individual particles, each of which has a region at and near the surface thereof modified, and the elemental composition of the surface region is in a more oxidized state than that of the internal region of the particles. Alternatively, the surface region has more halogen or chalcogen in the elemental composition. In the phosphor treatment method of the invention, the surface region of individual phosphor particles is selectively modified by (i) forming a highly reactive gas atmosphere by exciting gas which contains reactive gas, and (ii) exposing the phosphor to the gas atmosphere.

    摘要: A gas discharge light emitting panel is provided that prevents deterioration in display properties of the panel, which accompanies changes in light-emitting properties of phosphors. It includes a front panel and a rear panel that are disposed to oppose each other, with a discharge space being interposed therebetween, and a phosphor layer that is disposed above a principal surface located on the discharge space side of the rear panel and that emits light by being irradiated with ultraviolet rays generated in the discharge space. The phosphor layer contains first and second phosphors in which the changes in at least one property selected from luminance and chromaticity, which accompany driving of the panel, occur in the opposite directions to each other.

This blue phosphor has a crystal structure that is essentially a merwinite structure, and the crystal structure has a unit cell volume of 714.8 Å3 or less. Or, in this blue phosphor, a peak appearing around 2θ=22.86 degrees in an X-ray diffraction pattern obtained by measurement of the blue phosphor using an X-ray with a wavelength of 0.773 Å has a one-fifth value width of 0.17 degrees or less. Furthermore, the present invention is a light-emitting device having a phosphor layer including the phosphor. A suitable example of the light-emitting device is a plasma display panel.
