摘要： A method of shaping a friction facing or lining is disclosed. A lining blank is positioned on a core member and a template having the desired groove patterns and periphery is mounted on the blank. Particles are directed against the template and the blank to form the lining grooves and peripheries. The particles also remove hanging fibers. In another embodiment, a template is placed over a friction facing or lining which has grooves formed by other methods. The particles remove any undesired material or hanging fibers from either the grooves or periphery or both.

摘要： A device that serves to automatically fill battery cells with water includes a filler plug that can be placed in the cell. The plug has two connection members for the water supply as well as a valve operated by a float. The valve body is connected in articulated fashion to the float, which is arranged centrally in the plug housing, via a pivotally mounted amplifying lever. Between the valve with the valve body and the connection member there is a substantially vertical overflow wall with a free upper edge that is higher than the horizontal upper edge of the bore of the connection members so that a U-shaped feed duct is formed that leads to the overflow wall.

摘要： The roll assembly of a calender has at least one roll with a deformable shell which surrounds a rigid carrier and whose end portions surround discrete antifriction bearings. The intermediate portion of the shell surrounds one or more rows of hydrostatic supporting elements which can be acted upon by adjustable fluid-operated motors to change the shape of the intermediate portion in a plane including the axes of the one roll and the neighboring roll as well as at right angles to such plane. Stresses which are applied to the bearings for the end portions of the shell are monitored by several sensors which transmit signals to a control system to regulate the deformation of the shell in such a way that the stresses upon the bearings are minimized or reduced to zero. This enables the intermediate portion of the shell to undergo deformation which is best suited for optimum treatment of the material passing through the nip of the one roll and the neighboring roll.

摘要： An improved arrangement for securing a plate-type cooler in metallurgical furnaces is disclosed. The cooler comprises a cast body including embedded cooling pipes provided with protective tubes which are run into the cooler body and secured to the outlets of the cooling pipes. At a first level, at least one of the protective tubes is designed as a fixed support and the other tubes at the same level are designed as horizontally displaceable supports to allow for a thermal expansion. At a vertically opposite level, at least one of the protective tubes is designed as a vertically displaceable support and the other tubes extending at the same level are designed as movable supports.

摘要： An internal reinforcement structure of a plastic fuel tank resists deformation of opposing walls of the fuel tank and provides an integral, and directionally sensitive, stress relief feature when pre-determined forces are exceeded. The stress relief feature is contained within a fuel chamber of the fuel tank defined by the opposing walls. Each wall has an inward projecting indentation of the structure which engage one-another at their distal ends or bottom portions, preferably, via a welded plastic engagement area. The indentations have a consistent wall thickness which has a higher cross-sectional area than the stress relief feature causing the stress relief feature to tear as opposed to the tank walls thereby assuring fuel tank integrity.
