    摘要: Yarns are prepared by spinning PEN or other semi-crystalline polyester polymers made from similarly rigid monomer combinations to a state of optimum amorphous orientation and crystallinity. This is accomplished by selection of process parameters to form an undrawn polyester yarn of birefringence at least 0.030. The spun yarn is then hot drawn to a total draw ratio of between 1.5/1 and 6.0/1 with the resulting drawn semi-crystalline polyester yarn having Tg greater than 100.degree. C. and a melting point elevation at least 8.degree. C. The preferred yarn has a tenacity at least 6.5 g/d, dimensional stability (EASL+Shrinkage) of less than 5%, and shrinkage 4% or less. The resulting yarn exhibits surprisingly high modulus and tenacity together with low shrinkage when compared to prior art yarns.

    摘要: An air treatment system for a vehicle or other habitable structure. The apparatus includes a supply of treating fluid, a pump and spray nozzle arrangement, and a control system. The spray nozzle discharges the treating liquid in an atomized condition within an air circulation conduit, and the control system insures that there is air flow taking place in the conduit before atomization begins and that air flow is still continuing after cessation of atomization. The sequences is insured by a logic control and the pump is actuated through a timer and relay arrangement. An automatic conditioned responsive mode of operation can also be provided.

    摘要: The present invention is a polyamide composition with high impact strength which is retained at low temperatures. The composition consists of from 0.5 to 95 percent by weight of at least one amine terminated polyamide. The amine terminated polyamide comprises from 3 to 97 mole percent of the polyamide acid molecules having amine groups as at least two end groups of the polyamide acid molecule. The composition further contains 3 to 99.5 percent by weight of a polyamide having at least 50 mole percent of its end groups as acid groups or capped groups. The composition further has from 2 to 50 percent, and preferably 15 to 30 percent based on the total weight of the polymer of a reactive polymer. The reactive copolymer is based on a copolymer of ethylene and an .alpha.-olefin having 3 to 8 carbon atoms. This copolymer is identified as the "ethylene copolymer". The reactive copolymer has a reactive moiety, preferably grafted to the ethylene copolymer, which is preferably an ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid or derivative thereof. There are at least an average two reactive groups per molecule of copolymer.

    摘要: A process and apparatus are disclosed for separating drilling mud and waste materials into pure water and a concentrated solid waste phase which is easily handled and disposed of. The process and apparatus provide for adjusting the pH of the drilling mud and waste materials to be separated, mixing the thus pH adjusted mud and waste materials with a flocculating agent and allowing the solids to settle out. The solids are then removed and further dewatered to produce a relatively dry concentrated solid waste phase. If desired, the clarified water is mixed with finely divided activated charcoal to remove various impurities from the clarified water. The mixture of clarified water and charcoal are then filtered to produce a filtrate stream which is further separated to produce pure water and a liquid phase containing dissolved solids. The pure water can then be reused in the drilling process or safely discharged into the environment.
