摘要: A fugitive gas remediation (FGR) system for eliminating fugitive gas, such as surface casing vent gas produced from the casing head of an oil well, or so-called casinghead or Bradenhead gas, and other fugitive gas sources. An enclosure is positioned at a site with a fugitive gas source, such as a wellhead. A separator is located in the enclosure to remove liquid from the fugitive gas. A catalytic heater is located in the enclosure and coupled to the separator to react with the fugitive gas and produce heat in the enclosure. A pilot gas source can provide pilot gas to the catalytic heater.

摘要: A hazardous waste repository system includes at least one vertical access drillhole formed from a terranean surface into a subterranean formation. The system further includes a first horizontal drillhole portion coupled to the vertical access drillhole and sized to receive a first hazardous waste canister. The first horizontal drillhole portion includes a first hazardous waste repository area formed at a first depth within the subterranean formation. The system further includes a second horizontal drillhole portion coupled to the at least one vertical access drillhole and sized to receive a second hazardous waste canister. The second horizontal drillhole portion includes a second hazardous waste repository area formed at a second depth within the subterranean formation such that a difference between the first and second depths is at least as much as a vertical drilling uncertainty. The second horizontal drillhole portion is horizontally spaced apart from the first horizontal drillhole portion by a distance less than a horizontal drilling uncertainty.

摘要: A geothermal plant, for extracting energy from a geothermal reservoir located below the ocean bottom, includes a floating platform; a riser that extends from a well drilled into the geothermal reservoir, to the floating platform; an electrical pump having a mechanical actuation part located in a bore of the riser, and an electronic part located outside the riser, wherein the electrical pump is configured to pump a geothermal liquid from the geothermal reservoir to the floating platform; and a power plant located on the floating platform and configured to use a steam produced by the geothermal liquid to generate electrical power. The electrical pump is placed at a depth of the riser where the geothermal liquid is in a single-phase.

摘要: Elongate capsules for housing waste are configured for disposal (placement) into wellbore(s) that are located in particular deep underground geologic formation(s). These capsules have opposing structures for physically linking multiple capsules together in an end-to-end fashion. These opposing end structures may include a stinger with pins at a top end of the capsule; and a J-slots structure at the bottom end of the capsule. The stinger with pins of a first capsule may be (removably) attached to the J-slots of a second capsule. Further, a retrieval-tool also has the J-slots structure at one end. The J-slots structure of the retrieval-tool may be configured to (removably) attach to a stinger with pins of a given capsule (which may be linked to other capsule(s)); and then the retrieval-tool may be used to retrieve the given capsule(s) from a given wellbore. Capsule retrieval systems and/or method may utilize such capsule(s) and the retrieval-tool.

摘要: A method and composition for stabilizing drill cuttings commences by providing precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC). The PCC is dried to a moisture level of about 10% or less. Drying by heat not to exceed 400° F. is preferred to prevent changes in the PCC. The dried PCC is blended with kiln dust to compose a generally uniform admixture. In the admixture, the kiln dust is not to exceed 40%. The admixture is introduced to the drill cuttings to initiate a nucleation reaction within the commixture of drill cuttings and the admixture.
