Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to determine whether or not a mobile alert message is in effect. Such a determination may be based on a cancellation message (or other message(s) received from the network, possibly in response to a query from the UE. Alternatively or additionally, such a determination may be based on monitoring rebroadcasts of the alert and/or determining that no rebroadcast has been received for a period of time.

Abstract: Embodiments for performing a fast return to Wi-Fi following completion of a cellular voice call are provided. These embodiments include detecting that a device has switched from communicating over a Wi-Fi interface to communicating over a cellular interface; determining the earliest time that the device can switch back to Wi-Fi; and instituting the switch. In some embodiments, the process of performing a fast return to Wi-Fi is carried out by devices having small form factors, such as smartwatches and other wearables, which may be susceptible to coexistence and peak power problems. The fast return to Wi-Fi embodiments disclosed herein allow a device to perform a voice call over a cellular interface when Wi-Fi calling is not available, and switch over to a Wi-Fi interface immediately upon completion of the voice call in order to conserve battery life, achieve higher data speeds, and avoid high costs associated with cellular data transmissions.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE), or other network component can operate to configure a plurality of new radio (NR) links of a E-UTRAN new radio (NR) dual connectivity (EN-DC) comprising a first radio access technologies (RAT) and a second, different RAT. A first link quality metric (LQM) evaluation of the first RAT is generated independently of generating a second LQM evaluation of the second RAT. A radio frequency (RF) interface, is configured to provide, to RF circuitry, data for a transmission of the first LQM evaluation and the second LQM evaluation based on a data split at a protocol layer so that a network component of base station can utilize the data to configure a data flow over the links based on link quality metrics provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for de-prioritizing an LTE anchor cell based on NR cell measurements. A UE may register on a first cell of a first Radio Access Technology (RAT), process a configuration message from a network prioritizing an anchor band of the first RAT, perform a first cell reselection from the first cell to a second cell of the first RAT that is in the anchor band, and perform cell measurements on one or more cells of a second RAT. In response to determining that none of the cell measurements for the one or more cells of the second RAT exceeds a threshold, the UE de-prioritizes the second cell in ranked cell prioritization data and performs a second cell reselection from the second cell of the first RAT to another cell of the first RAT based on the ranked cell prioritization data.

The edge discovery service may provide a response to the edge compute request to the wireless device, which may include an indication of the selected edge application server or servers.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may receive a list of Public Land Mobile Networks (PLMNs) that support a given network slice in a given country, different from a home country of a home PLMN of the UE. When roaming in the given country, UE may access a PLMN of the list if the given network slice is desired. The list may be provided by the home PLMN: while the UE is in the home country; or via a visited PLMN while the UE is in the given country. The list may be received in response to a UE-initiated request, or pushed to the UE by the home PLMN. A validity timer period received with the list may indicate a duration of validity of the list. In an alternative scenario, the UE may receive the list from an entitlement server, e.g., one belonging to a visited PLMN.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to establish a connection with a core network through a base station configured with mixed core network deployment, wherein the base station is communicatively coupled to each of a LTE core network (CN) such as an evolved packet core (EPC) and a 5G CN. The UE determines a preference for establishing a connection with one of the EPC or the 5G CN based on one or more of a device type of the UE, an active data flow running on the UE, an availability of network slices or packet data unit (PDU) sessions through each core network, or historical network performance of a particular CN. The UE transmits a message to the base station indicating the determined preference. The UE subsequently receives a response from the base station establishing a connection with the indicated preferred core network.
