Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe discovering physical cell identifiers in wireless communications. It can be determined to discover a physical cell identifier of one or more cells in a zone based at least in part on detecting a condition. A cell-specific signal can be received from at least one cell of the one or more cells in the zone. The cell-specific signal can be associated with one of a plurality of possible scrambling codes or sequences. The physical cell identifier of the at least one cell can be determined as one of a plurality of physical cell identifiers that corresponds to the one of the plurality of possible scrambling codes or sequences.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are described in which an unlicensed spectrum is used for Long Term Evolution (LTE) communications. A first method includes synchronizing clear channel assessment (CCA) slots across a plurality of base stations to determine availability of an unlicensed spectrum for transmissions in a next transmission interval. A second method includes performing a CCA during one of a plurality of CCA slots synchronized across a plurality of evolved Node Bs (eNBs) to determine availability of unlicensed spectrum for transmissions in a next transmission interval.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to decoupling uplink latency using common uplink (UL) burst in Time Division Duplex (TDD) sub-frame structure are disclosed. User equipment (UE) can transmit to a base station a common UL burst in each sub-frame communicated between UE and the base station, wherein he common UL burst comprises at least one of: a physical layer (PHY) acknowledgement (ACK), a scheduling request (SR), a buffer status report (BSR), or a sounding reference signal (SRS). UE can be further configured to transmit scheduled UL payload data in at least one common UL burst of at least one sub-frame communicated between the UE and the base station.

Abstract: Various aspects described herein relate to hybrid automatic repeat/request (HARQ) communications in a wireless network. A first instance of a HARQ communication is transmitted or received over a first set of one or more links. Based on the transmitting or receiving the first instance of the HARQ communication, a scheduling grant can be received for a second instance of the HARQ communication over a second set of one or more links different from the first set of one or more links. The second instance of the HARQ communication can accordingly be transmitted or received over the second set of one or more links based at least in part on the scheduling grant.

Abstract: A transmitter may initiate multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications with a receiver in which a number of codewords used in MIMO transmissions may be selected to provide enhanced communications for a particular service that is associated with the MIMO transmission. In cases where a lower-latency service is identified, a MIMO transmission may be configured with one codeword transmitted over multiple spatial layers, which may provide lower processing latency at a receiver relative to processing of multiple codewords. In cases where a mobile broadband service is identified, a MIMO transmission configured with two (or more) codewords may be transmitted over multiple spatial layers, which may provide increased data throughput relative to a single codeword MIMO transmission. A codeblock size for a transmission also may be selected based at least in part on a service associated with the transmission.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer program product, and an apparatus are provided. The method may be performed by a subordinate entity. The subordinate entity receives a transmission from the scheduling entity in a data portion of the subframe. The subordinate entity processes, in the subframe, at least a part of the transmission. The subordinate entity then determines whether to send an acknowledgment (ACK) signal for the transmission, the ACK signal to be transmitted in an ACK portion of the subframe before a remaining part of the transmission is processed, and sends the ACK signal to the scheduling entity in the ACK portion of the subframe based on the determination. The data portion and the ACK portion are contained in the subframe.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to techniques for on-demand paging. In one aspect, a method is provided for receiving a paging message by a mobile device. The method generally includes acquiring network time, determining, based on the network time or an internal timer, that the mobile device is within a paging window wherein the mobile device can receive a paging message, and sending an indication message, in response to the determination. The mobile device may receive a response to the indication message, the response indicating whether or not there is a paging message for the mobile device.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may communicate with a user equipment (UE) using frequency resources (e.g., subcarriers) with scalable channel spacing and time resources (e.g., slots) with variable slot durations. The individual slots may include multiple symbols, and each symbol may be allocated for communication in a specific link direction (e.g., uplink, downlink, or sidelink). For UEs configured to operate in a half-duplex mode, the base station may allocate sufficient time for the UE to transition between uplink and downlink configurations. In other cases, for carrier aggregation, the base station may coordinate with the UE to prevent conflicting communications (e.g., simultaneous uplink and downlink transmissions). UEs or other devices may communicate directly with one another in a device-to-device configuration using the same or a similar scheme to allow for half-duplex devices to transition between sending and receiving.
