Abstract:
The present invention discloses a method and apparatus for implementing matched filter in a system using QPSK modulation. In the present invention, a multiplier is changed as a multiplexer by using the characteristic of the pilot sequence (or training sequence) so as to implement the matched filter.
Abstract:
In a CDMA mobile terminal, the power supply voltage of the mobile terminal is compared with a first threshold voltage, and frequency monitor is performed at a normal rate if the power supply voltage is higher than the first threshold voltage, and frequency monitor is performed at 1/N of the normal rate if the power supply voltage is lower than the first threshold voltage, where N is equal to or greater than 2. Additionally, the power level of an RF signal received by the mobile terminal is compared with a first reference level, and frequency monitor is performed at the normal rate if the power level of the RF signal is lower than the first reference level, and frequency monitor is performed at 1/N of the normal rate if the power level of the RF signal is higher than the first reference level.
Abstract:
In a method of detecting whether a transmitted data frame is a discontinuous transmission (DTX) frame, a signal metric corresponding to the transmitted data frame is generated in a decoding operation used to decode the data frame from a signal carrying the frame that is received by a base station receiver. A signal energy of the transmitted data frame is determined based on the signal metric, and used for determining whether the transmitted data frame is a DTX frame.
Abstract:
A system and method that achieve power savings by turning off all or some of the baseband processing for codes and timeslots that have not been transmitted due to full DTX. When full DTX is detected by reception of a Special Burst (SB), the receiver is turned off for all timeslots and frames for the duration of the Special Burst Scheduling Period (SBSP). The transmitter schedules transmissions following any idle period to start on the boundary of the SBSP. The receiver determines the SBSP and if the transmitter initiates transmissions according to SBSP by reception of several initial full DTX cycles.
Abstract:
A subscriber access unit includes a transceiver for providing wireless communication of digital signals. The digital signals are communicated to a base station using at least one radio frequency (RF) channel via Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) modulated radio signals defined by orthogonal codes. Orthogonal subchannels are made available by the base station within each CDMA RF channel. A bandwidth manager is connected to the transceiver, and when the transceiver is actively sending data, at least one orthogonal subchannel is allocated by the base station on an as-needed basis. The number of orthogonal subchannels being allocated changes during a given session. The transceiver, when powered on but not actively sending data, provides an idling mode connection on a reverse link. The idling mode connection is based on an orthogonal subchannel shared with at least one other subscriber access unit, but utilizes different time slots of the shared orthogonal subchannel.

A receiving apparatus for stopping intermittently reception processing including path detection, the receiving apparatus includes a control portion for shifting a window having a predetermined time width indicating a section in which the path detection is performed from a position before a reception stop in accordance with a state of travel of the receiving apparatus before the reception stop, and a path detecting portion for performing the path detection processing on a receive signal within the section expressed by the window after shifted by the control portion, after a lapse of the reception stop period.
Abstract:
A communications system and method for a wireless mobile device is provided. The method includes performing sleep mode operations in a device and performing wake-up operations with one or more base stations in view of the sleep mode operations in the device. The method also includes demodulating a communications channel for the device during sleep mode operations in the device and prior to synchronizing with the base stations.
Abstract:
An increase in the power consumption and deterioration of the reception characteristic which can arise as a result of installing a multi-path interference removing apparatus are suppressed. The multi-path interference removing apparatus is operated only in the following cases: a case where a mobile communication terminal is in a communication active state, a case where communication takes place via a base station to which the adaptive modulation and coding technology is applied, a case where the number of reception paths of the mobile communication terminal is two or more paths, a case where the speed of motion of the mobile communication terminal is 60 km/h or less, and a case where the Signal to Interference power Ratio is 8 dB or more.

Abstract:
A receiver for the CDMA system which reduces power consumption during a suspension period of intermittent receiving operation by monitoring a suspension period by a low-power timer so that a VC-TCXO, reference signal group generation and receiving units are turned off and a modem unit is set to a sleep state. Upon resumption of receiving operation, a high-accuracy timer is started to count a time period and part of a received signal is stored. A PN code phase of stored data is calculated during the time period to obtain an indication value for phase deviation. State vectors for short and long codes and a further reception time are calculated based on the indication value. When the high-accuracy timer counts the time period and produces 0V(d), demodulation operation by a rake demodulation, demultiplexing, and descrambler units is started and is continued during the reception time.
