Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques, methods, devices, systems, and non-transitory computer readable medium for generating codebooks for reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) s. For example, a RIS controller generates a codebook for a RIS by computing weights using a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) function or a fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) function, based on reference signals (RSs) transmitted by a transmitter. The weights correspond to the RIS elements or a subset of the RIS elements. In some aspects, the computation of the weights may include oversampling factors that allow for a higher resolution of the weights and improved search for an optimal precoding setting. Different sets of weights may be used for different incoming beams. The RIS controller may be trained with a pair of transmitter and a receiver to identify/generate the codebook for an optimized set of weights under specific situations.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to obtaining a duplex mode of a scheduled entity, selecting a downlink-uplink (DU) slot interpretation to be applied by the scheduled entity to a slot including a DU symbol based on the duplex mode of the scheduled entity, and transmitting the DU slot interpretation to the scheduled entity. The DU symbol may be configured to include a downlink transmission and an uplink transmission within a same carrier bandwidth. Other aspects relate to receiving a message, indicating that the slot is formatted with a DU symbol, selecting a DU slot interpretation to be applied to the slot including the DU symbol based on a duplex mode of the scheduled entity, and applying the DU slot interpretation to the slot. Other aspects, examples, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may initiate a random access procedure with a base station. The UE may transmit a random access channel (RACH) preamble to the base station. The UE may receive, from the base station and in response to the RACH preamble, a random access response (RAR) message. The UE may then identify a beam configuration for transmission of repetitions of an uplink transmission response to the RAR message. The UE may then transmit the repetitions of the uplink transmission using one or more beams in accordance with the beam configuration.

The described techniques provide for a base station using antenna groups configured at a user equipment (UE) for CSI reporting. The base station may transmit an indication of the antenna group that the UE is to use for measuring and reporting CSI. Based on the received indication, the UE may measure a reference signal transmitted by the base station and received at the UE using one or more antennas of the antenna group in accordance with the indication. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a CSI report that is based on the measuring of the reference signal using the one or more antennas of the antenna group.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support relayed sidelink communications. A first device and a base station may communicate via a communication link including a sidelink link between the first device and a second device and a relay link between the second device and the base station. The base station may determine restrictions for the communication link and transmit an indication of the restrictions over the relay link. The restrictions may differentiate data originating from the first device and the second device, restrict the first device to one or more resources, or associate logical channels at the first device with one or more transport block sizes and communication links. The second device may relay the indication of the restrictions to the first device. The first device, the second device, and the base station may communicate over the communication link according to the restrictions.
