Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may determine one or more sidelink discontinuous reception (DRX) parameters for a configured sidelink DRX cycle. The sidelink DRX parameters may be selected by the UE or may be indicated by a base station. In some cases, the UE may transmit an indication of the sidelink DRX parameters to another UE (e.g., via a sidelink communication link). A UE may discontinuously monitor for transmissions over the sidelink communication link in accordance with the sidelink DRX parameters.

Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to communicating in an integrated access backhaul (IAB) network are provided. A first wireless communication device receives synchronization information associated with one or more wireless communication of a multi-hop wireless network. The first wireless communication device determines a transmission timing adjustment for a second wireless communication device of the one or more wireless communication devices based on at least some of the synchronization information. The first wireless communication device transmits a message instructing the second wireless communication device to communicate with a third wireless communication device of the one or more wireless communication devices based on the transmission timing adjustment.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for resource allocation in an integrated access and backhaul (IAB) network. A relay node in an IAB network may be assigned a first resource partition that is different from a second resource partition for the child and parent nodes. Based on a resource configuration (e.g., for a slot) of the second resource partition, the relay node may opportunistically utilize the second resource partition for communications. For instance, the relay node may determine a direction table based on the resource configurations of the child and parent nodes, which may be used to perform uplink or downlink communications in one or more symbols of the second resource partition. The relay node may also identify flexible symbols as free or non-free when determining the direction table.

Abstract: A UE may move out of range of a network. Accordingly, the UE may use a relay node to communicate. To manage the relay node, a wireless device such as the UE may receive a relay search message from a second UE requesting a relay UE to establish a connection to the network through the relay UE. The UE may transmit a message to a base station informing the base station of the relay search message from the second UE. The UE may receive an initiate relay association procedure message from the base station, the initiate relay association procedure message informing the first UE that the first UE has been selected by the base station to initiate a relay association procedure with the second UE. The UE may transmit a relay association message to the second UE including a request to be the relay UE for the second UE.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, base stations and user equipments may use a hybrid operation mode to allocate resources in a cellular vehicle-to-everything communication system. For example, a user equipment (e.g., a vehicle) in the system may receive, from a base station, an indication that the user equipment belongs to at least one group of user equipments for group-level resource allocation, receive, from the base station, an allocation of resources including a pool of resources assigned to the at least one group of user equipments, and reserve a subset of resources of the pool of resources for communication to at least one other user equipment. This communication may be an example of a vehicle-to-everything communication over a sidelink communication channel.

More particularly, the methods systems and devices relate to techniques for suspending bearers when not required, for example, for D2D communications. In one example, a mobile device may send a connection request that indicates a service type. The connection request may be a service request (SR) or an extended service request (ESR). A set of bearers may be established for the intended communication(s). The indicated service type may not require all bearers of the set of bearers such that at least one bearer may be suspended.

In one example, a method includes receiving broadcast information from a base station that identifies types of resources for vehicle-based sidelink communications that are supported by the base station and transmitting a request to the base station for resource scheduling information to perform a vehicle-based sidelink communication based on the broadcast information. In some cases, the request includes an indication of a type of resources for the vehicle-based sidelink communication supported by the base station and a quality of service (QoS) metric associated with the vehicle-based sidelink communication. In some cases, the method further includes receiving, in response to the request, a response from the base station that comprises the resource scheduling information to perform the vehicle-based sidelink communication.

A user equipment (UE) may determine that a profile for vehicle-based sidelink communications supports packet duplication using a set of carrier frequencies. The UE may transmit a message to a base station that identifies the profile and the set of carrier frequencies. The UE may receive a configuration message from the base station that identifies a packet duplication configuration. The UE may transmit, based on the packet duplication configuration, a request to the base station for resources to perform the vehicle-based sidelink communications, the request comprising one or more buffer status report (BSRs), wherein each BSR identifies a carrier frequency for the BSR and a logical channel group identifier that identifies the BSR as being for packet duplication.

The different sets of control messages may include a first set of control messages for an access radio link between the relay and the CU and a second set of control messages for a fronthaul radio link between the relay and the CU. Techniques may include multiplexing of messages on a radio bearer (RB), establishment of separate RBs for different control messages, and encapsulation of one type of control message for transmission with the other type of control message.
