Abstract: Water solvated polymeric dyes and polymeric tandem dyes having a blue excitation spectrum are provided. The polymeric dyes are conjugated polymers that can include a thiophene-containing co-monomer. The polymeric tandem dyes further include a signaling chromophore covalently linked to the conjugated polymer in energy-receiving proximity therewith. Also provided are labelled specific binding members that include the subject polymeric dyes. Methods of evaluating a sample for the presence of a target analyte and methods of labelling a target molecule in which the subject polymeric dyes find use are also provided. Systems and kits for practicing the subject methods are also provided.

Abstract: An infusion adapter for connection with an infusion fluid container includes a connection portion configured to engage an injection port of an infusion fluid container, and a port configured to connect to an intravenous line, with the port in fluid communication with the connection portion. The connection portion includes a retaining ring extending radially outward from the connection portion, with the retaining ring configured to securely connect the infusion adapter to the infusion fluid container to substantially prevent disconnection of the infusion adapter from the infusion fluid container once the infusion adapter is connected to the infusion fluid container. The retaining ring includes an indicator configured to provide visualization of insertion of the connection portion into an injection port of an infusion fluid container.

Abstract: A cannula insertion device is disclosed. The device includes a needle carriage, a rail device on which the needle carriage is slidable, a yoke having a channel, a linkage connected to the needle carriage and extending into the channel, a torsion spring with one end connected to the linkage, and locking device for locking the torsion spring in tension and maintaining the needle carriage and the linkage in a locked position prior to activation. Upon release of the locking device, the tension of the torsion spring is released, which causes the linkage to move in the channel and slide the needle carriage along the rail device. A catheter carriage may also be provided for actuation by the linkage.

Abstract: A method may include priming a catheter system. The catheter system may include a catheter adapter, a catheter, and an extension tube. The catheter system may also include a Y-adapter, which may include first and second arms. A distal end of the Y-adapter may be coupled to the extension tube. The catheter system may further include a vent cap, which may be coupled to the second arm. Priming the catheter system may include attaching an IV line to the first arm and delivering saline through the IV line to the catheter system such that the saline exits a distal tip of the catheter and clamping the IV line via a roller clamp on the IV line. The method may also include actuating the vent cap after priming the catheter system. The method may further include inserting the catheter into a vein of a patient after actuating the vent cap.

Abstract: A sensor for detecting infiltration at a catheter infusion site may include a first elongate sensor member couplable to a first location proximate the catheter infusion site, and a second elongate sensor member couplable to a second location proximate the catheter infusion site. The first elongate sensor member may include a first marking and the second elongate sensor member may include a second marking. The first elongate sensor member may slidably couple with and translate relative to the second elongate sensor. The first and second markings may indicate a range of relative positions between the first and second elongate sensor members as the first and second elongate sensor members translate relative to each other. At least one relative position within a range of relative positions between the first and second elongate sensor members may be indicative of infiltration at the catheter infusion site.
