    Abstract: A base station (BS) may transmit, and a user equipment (UE) may receive, a physical channel, such as a narrowband physical downlink control channel (NPDCCH) or a narrowband physical downlink shared channel (NPDSCH). In an interference-limited scenario in a network, it may be desirable to perform additional processing to introduce interference randomization into the control channel to ensure that the UE can recover data of the control channel. Some types of UEs, such as legacy UEs, may not be capable of recovering the control channel when the additional processing is performed. In some aspects, the BS may identify a type of UE associated with a cell, and may transmit a physical channel processed using a processing scheme selected based at least in part on the type of UE associated with the cell.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In one example, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to receive a control message scheduling a multicast transmission, and the UE may identify an open loop power control parameter for transmitting acknowledgment feedback responsive to the multicast transmission. The identification of the open loop power control parameter may be based on the transmission being multicast to a plurality of UEs, and in some cases a UE may identify an open loop power control parameter that is different than an open loop power control parameter associated with feedback responsive to unicast transmissions. In various examples, open loop power control parameters may correspond to respective feedback resources (e.g., according to a configuration for a set of open loop power control parameters), or to respective physical resource indicators (e.g., as signaled in downlink control information).

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. These wireless communications may include channel estimation procedures between communicating devices such as a base station and user equipment (UE). For example, the UE may receive, from the base station, a resource grant triggering a given reference signal configuration. Based at least in part on the type of reference signal configuration, the UE (e.g., and the base station) may determine a timing offset relative to the resource grant. The UE may transmit (and the base station may receive) the reference signal based at least in part on the timing offset. In some cases, the reference signal may be transmitted in a transmission opportunity of a set of transmission opportunities, where the set of transmission opportunities is determined based at least in part on the reference signal configuration.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A wireless device, such as a user equipment (UE), may receive a wakeup signal (WUS) from a network node, such as a base station, before listening for a paging message. The UE may assume a maximum duration (Wmax) for the WUS based on a dependency on variables associated with the base station and WUS. In some cases, the UE may determine not to monitor a WUS for the Wmax and may engage in an early termination based on the determination. That is, the UE may monitor the WUS for a time shorter than Wmax. The UE may assume the shorter time has a dependency on variables associated with the base station and WUS. The base station may indicate this dependency to the UE either implicitly or explicitly.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a first synchronization signal for synchronizing with a cell, the first synchronization signal transmitted at a first periodicity by a base station serving the cell. The UE may then receive, subsequent to the synchronizing, a second synchronization signal for resynchronizing with the cell. In some cases, the second synchronization signal may be transmitted by the base station according to a second periodicity that is different from the first periodicity. In some cases, the second synchronization signal may include a plurality of repetitions of a first sequence that is based at least in part on a cell identifier of the cell. The UE may communicate over the cell with the base station based at least in part on the resynchronizing.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station and while operating in a dual connectivity mode, an uplink grant in a first subframe of a set of subframes. The uplink grant may schedule transmission of uplink data. The UE may determine a second subframe of the set of subframes to transmit the uplink data and a third subframe of the set of subframes to monitor for feedback associated with transmission of the uplink data. The second subframe and the third subframe may be determined based on combinations of a primary cell time division duplex (TDD) uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration and a DL-reference UL-DL configuration. each of the combinations may have at least three uplink transmission subframes or three downlink monitoring subframes within a ten-subframe cycle. The UE may thus perform wireless communications in accordance with the transmission timelines.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to enable a base station to configure additional reference signals, which may be referred to as configured reference signals, to include in a transmission to a user equipment (UE). The UE may transmit a report to the base station, indicating a UE capability for supporting configured reference signals, and the base station may configure a pattern for the configured reference signals. The base station may transmit an indication of the pattern to the UE, where the indication may include one or more characteristics associated with the configured reference signals. The base station may transmit the configured reference signals to the UE according to the pattern, along with one or more baseline reference signals, within an associated transmission. The UE may use the configured reference signals and the baseline reference signals to receive a transmission from the base station.
