A method of transmitting/receiving a broadcasting signal and a receiver are disclosed. According to the present invention, one broadcast service can be provided by a plurality of video streams. The receiver receives broadcasting information including a main service, which includes a service trigger information of a supplementary service. So the user can view a combination of several associated video streams or select and view a specific video stream by selecting the supplementary service through the service trigger information. In addition to the video streams, a combination of several audio broadcasting streams or data broadcasting streams can be selected and viewed.

The method of processing channel information of the transmitter includes service provider identification information in service provider discovery information, includes content provider identification information and content service identification information in service discovery information and transmitting the resulting service discovery information, and transmits the resulting service provider discovery information and service discovery information to the receiver.

A method of processing EPG metadata in a network according to one embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of performing a services discovery procedure utilizing multiple service discovery metadata components supplied by a service provider and processing an EPG metadata. Preferably, the performing step includes the steps of receiving a master SI table which locates in a master SI table location in provisioning information, wherein the provisioning information includes multiple elements, an EPG provider information element in the multiple elements having both a first target virtual channel map identifier element and an EPG data locator element, the first target virtual channel map identifier element indicating that services are covered by each of the EPG metadata provider's EPG data sources, receiving a virtual channel map table which locates in virtual channel map locations in the received master SI table, receiving a virtual channel description table which locates in virtual channel description table locations in the received virtual channel map table, and receiving a source table which locates in source table locations in the received virtual channel description table.

Disclosed are a method of transmitting and receiving a broadcast signal and an apparatus for receiving the broadcast signal. In the present invention, first program table information describing a broadcasting stream, and second program table information including additional service identifier information of the multiplexed stream and third program table information describing the additional service data for the multiplexed stream are obtained. The additional service can be provided with the additional service data by using the third program table information.

Digital broadcast receiving method comprising receiving base and additional view video streams and stereoscopic characteristics information. The method comprising identifying a virtual channel carrying a 3D broadcast service delivering additional and base view video streams encoded using different codecs using a service type field, wherein the service type field is included in a TVCT of a PSIP in an ATSC-type digital broadcast and identifying a codec type of each of the base and the additional view video streams using a stream type field included in a PMT, wherein the stream type field is related to each of the base and the additional view video streams, and wherein a value of the stream type field indicates the codec type of each of the base and the additional view video streams. The method also comprising processing base and additional view video streams for supporting the 3D broadcast service using the TVCT.

A digital broadcast receiving apparatus for displaying a stereoscopic image comprises: a demultiplexing unit configured to demultiplex a received digital broadcast signal; a PSIP or PSI/SI processor configured to extract extension view video information from the demultiplexed digital broadcast signal; a decoder configured to decode an extension view video stream and a base view video stream from the demultiplexed digital broadcast signal; and an output formatting unit configured to format the extension view video stream and the base view video stream based on the extension view video information. The extension view video information may include at least any one of a relative position relationship between a camera which has generated the extension view video stream and a camera which has generated the base view video stream, the number of the extension view video streams, and information regarding an arrangement structure of the cameras. The relative position relationship may include at least any one of the direction in which the camera, which has generated the extension view video stream, is positioned and the degree of separation in the direction based on the camera which has generated the base view video stream. Accordingly, a signal for a stereoscopic image in a digital broadcast can be checked and processed, so a stereoscopic image can be displayed.

A method of processing broadcast data in a broadcast transmitting system includes Reed-Solomon (RS) encoding and Cyclic Redundancy Check encoding an RS frame payload including mobile service data to build an RS frame, wherein the RS frame payload comprises a plurality of mobile and handheld transport packets; first encoding data of the RS frame with a first encoding code; second encoding signaling data with a second encoding code, wherein the signaling data include fast information channel (FIC) data and transmission parameter channel (TPC) data, the FIC data including information for rapid mobile service acquisition and the TPC data including a parade identifier for identifying a parade to which a current data group belongs; mapping the first encoded data into data groups and adding known data sequences and the second encoded signaling data to each of the data groups; and transmitting a transmission frame including data of the data groups.

The method includes receiving a master service information (SI) table including a first element defining location of a virtual channel map table, parsing the first element in the received master SI table, receiving the virtual channel map table including a second element defining location of a virtual channel description table based on the parsed location element, parsing the second element in the received virtual channel map table, receiving the virtual channel description table, which includes a third element indicating a default parental guidance rating of a virtual channel service when present, based on the parsed second element, parsing the third element in the received virtual channel description table, and controlling to allow ratings based on the type of parental guidance system according to the parsed third element.

The method includes receiving a digital broadcast signal including an emergency alert table including a uniform resource identifier (URI) descriptor, detecting a URI address included in the URI descriptor, accessing the URI address, receiving additional emergency alert information from the URI address, and performing control to display the additional emergency alert information on a screen of the digital broadcast receiver.
