Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that support techniques for transmission power determination for radio frequency (RF) exposure compliance. A transmitting device, such as a user equipment (UE) may determine an uplink transmit power limit for a time window based on an RF limit and a duration of the time window. The device may use the power limit to determine an uplink transmit power based on a computed uplink transmission period for the time window that accounts for a time period during which the device is expected to actually transmit. The computed uplink transmission period may be based on one or more actual uplink transmission periods during one or more prior time windows, a predictive model, network signaling, or any combinations thereof. The device may transmit one or more uplink transmissions during the time window using the determined uplink transmit power.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may perform a beam sweeping procedure that selects a communication beam for communicating in a wireless network, the beam sweeping procedure being based at least in part on a beam sweeping subset of beams that is dynamically selected from a plurality of beams based at least in part on a current UE operating state. The UE may communicate in the wireless network based at least in part on the communication beam that is selected based at least in part on the beam sweeping procedure. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify a first throughput on a first beam of the UE, wherein the first beam is associated with a first number of antenna elements. The UE may identify an estimated maximum throughput of the UE. The UE may communicate, based at least in part on the first throughput being greater than the estimated maximum throughput, using a second beam, the second beam having a second throughput that is greater than the estimated maximum throughput, and the second beam being associated with a second number of antenna elements lesser than the first number of antenna elements. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify, for each of one or more candidate beams in a set of candidate beams, a downlink throughput, an uplink throughput, a downlink power consumption, and an uplink power consumption. The UE may select a beam based at least in part on: at least one of the downlink throughput or the uplink throughput, at least one of the downlink power consumption or the uplink power consumption, and one or more throughput thresholds. The UE may communicate using the selected beam. Numerous other aspects are described.

Abstract: Some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide sub-grouping of paging groups of user equipment (UEs) based at least in part on one or more parameters associated with a UE, such as a UE type of the UE or a measured channel condition at the UE. A base station may assign the UE to a paging sub-group based at least in part on the information associated with the one or more parameters. In some aspects, the base station may determine paging transmission parameters for the UE based at least in part on the information associated with the one or more parameters, such as a paging early indication (PEI) location, a beam where a PEI and/or a paging message is to be transmitted, a number of repetitions for a paging occasion, or the like.
