Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for configuring contention-free uplink resources and contention-based uplink resources as preconfigured uplink resources (PUR) available for a user equipment (UE) to transmit one or more uplink transmissions without a specific allocation for the uplink transmission from a base station. Each of two or more UEs may be configured with separate portions of contention-free PUR that each UE may use to transmit a relatively small first uplink communication that provides an indication that the UE will transmit a relatively larger second uplink communication using contention-based PUR. The UE may transmit a buffer status report (BSR) using the contention-free PUR. The first communication may provide an indication of one or more physical layer parameters associated with the second uplink communication. The UE may transmit the second uplink communication using the indicated one or more physical layer parameters via the contention-based uplink resource.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to rate-matching a stream of bits encoded using polar codes. An exemplary method generally includes determining a mother code size (N) for transmitting an encoded stream of bits based, at least in part, on a minimum supported code rate for transmitting the encoded stream of bits (Rmin), a control information size of the encoded stream of bits (K), a number of coded bits for transmission (E), and a maximum mother code size (Nmax), encoding a stream of bits using a polar code of size (N, K) and storing the encoded stream of bits in a circular buffer, and performing rate-matching on the stored encoded stream of bits based, at least in part, on a comparison among the mother code size (N), the control information size of the encoded stream of bits (K), and the number of coded bits for transmission (E).

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications in a multiple bandwidth part environment are described. In response to a serving beam failure in an active bandwidth part, the UE may determine a level of support provided by the active bandwidth part for a random access procedure, and may determine a contingency (e.g. fallback) bandwidth part that supports the random access procedure. In some cases, the UE may identify the contingency bandwidth as an initial bandwidth part used by the UE for a prior random access procedure. In some cases, the base station may send to the UE, an explicit indication of the contingency bandwidth part. In some cases, the UE may identify the contingency bandwidth part based on a reference signal. Upon determining the contingency bandwidth part, the UE may perform the random access procedure using the contingency bandwidth part.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a wireless user equipment (UE) configured to receive a downlink in a network configured for full duplex communication. The UE receives from the network an indication of one or more candidate two-dimensional hypotheses for channel state information (CSI) reporting. The UE measures interference of a signal from the aggressor UE, and based on the measurement, determines one or more preferred two-dimensional hypotheses, from the candidate two-dimensional hypotheses. The UE may further determine one or more downlink transmission parameters for a downlink the UE receives, corresponding to the preferred two-dimensional hypotheses. The UE then transmits a CSI report that includes an indication of preferred two-dimensional hypotheses. The CSI report may further include the determined downlink transmission parameters. Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for channel state information (CSI) processing for fine granularity CSI. A method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a CSI reporting configuration. The CSI reporting configuration includes a number of frequency domain (FD) units and a FD unit size for CSI reporting. The UE determines a number of CSI processing units at the UE to use for processing the CSI report based on the number of FD units or the FD unit size for the CSI report. The UE processes the CSI report based on the determined number CSI processing units. In another method, the UE determines at least one threshold to use for determining whether to update a CSI report based on the number of FD units or the FD unit size for CSI reporting.
