Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a transmitting device, which may explicitly or implicitly signal the use of continuous precoding for a resource block (RB) cluster. For example, the transmitting device may implicitly indicate that continuous precoding is applied to an RB cluster by dynamically controlling one or more parameters of a transmission over those RBs. Further, when continuous precoding is applied to an RB cluster, the transmitting device may explicitly or implicitly signal the dynamic control over one or more transmission properties, with an aim to maximize the benefits of such continuous precoding. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Techniques are described that provide nested constellations in which a lower order modulation scheme may be nested within constellation points of a higher-order modulation scheme. A higher-order modulation scheme, having a first constellation, may be used for a first subset of transmissions (e.g., data payload transmissions). A lower-order modulation scheme, having a second constellation, may be used for a second subset of transmissions (e.g., reference signal transmissions, embedded control transmissions, tapered payload transmissions, etc.). A subset of constellation points of the first constellation may be selected for transmitting the second subset of transmissions. A receiver may receive the transmissions and demodulate/decode the transmissions. In the event that other transmitters are transmitting concurrently, and using similar nested constellation techniques, the receiver may be able to perform improved interference mitigation compared to interference mitigation that may be performed on interfering signals that use different constellation points.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure describe a guard band signal for communication on a guard band between a first frequency band utilized by a first radio access technology having a first sub-carrier spacing and a second frequency band utilized by a second radio access technology having a second sub-carrier spacing that is a multiple of the first sub-carrier spacing. The guard band signal includes a symbol that is repeated a number of times equal to the multiple. The guard band signal may be generated and transmitted by a transmitting device. The guard band signal may be received and decoded by a receiving device. The guard band signal is interpretable according to a first numerology of the first radio access technology and according to a second numerology of the second radio access technology.

Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes identifying a plurality of channel responses corresponding to a plurality of channels. Each channel of the plurality of channels corresponds to a pairing of a transmit antenna with a receive antenna. Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. One method includes identifying a plurality of intermediate precoders corresponding to a plurality of tone subsets. The plurality of intermediate precoders define a plurality of vectors across the plurality of tone subsets. The method further includes selecting, for each vector of the plurality of vectors, a subset of non-frequency domain components of the vector, such as time-domain components; modifying the plurality of intermediate precoders to a plurality of smoothed precoders based at least in part on the selected subset of non-frequency domain components for each vector; and precoding a plurality of transmit streams using the plurality of smoothed precoders. The plurality of smoothed precoders is smoothed in a frequency domain compared to the plurality of intermediate precoders. Smoothing precoders may enable application of wideband channel estimation techniques using user equipment (UE)-specific reference signals.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. The described techniques provide for a user equipment (UE) to identify a first set of scheduled transmissions to be received using a first set of time-frequency resources, where reference signals of the first set of transmissions may be bundled according to a first reference signal bundling pattern. The UE may identify a second scheduled transmission to be received using a second set of time-frequency resources that overlaps with the first set of resources. The UE may determine a second reference signal bundling pattern for bundling the reference signals received in the first set of transmissions. For example, the UE may modify the first reference signal bundling pattern to determine the second reference signal bundling pattern. The UE may receive the second scheduled transmission and the first set of scheduled transmissions according to the second reference signal bundling pattern.
