    Abstract: Video processing methods and apparatuses include receiving input video data, determining a Merge number for a regular Merge mode, comparing the Merge number for the regular Merge mode with a predefined value, and only signaling or parsing a difference between the Merge number for the regular Merge mode and a Merge number for a Geometric Partition Mode (GPM) Merge mode when the Merge number for the regular Merge mode is larger than or equal to the predefined value. The difference between the Merge numbers is inferred to 0 when the difference is not signaled. The Merge number for the GPM Merge mode defines a size of a GPM Merge candidate list constructed for each block coded or to be coded by the GPM Merge mode.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus of video coding using a multi-layer prediction mode, are disclosed. According to one method, a bitstream is generated at an encoder side or received at a decoder side, where the bitstream corresponds to coded data of current video data in a current layer. The bitstream complies with a bitstream conformance requirement corresponding both the bit depth values for the current layer and the reference layer being the same and the chroma format index values for the current layer and the reference layer being the same. The current video data in the current layer is then encoded or decoded by utilizing reference video data in the reference layer.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus for constrained mode signaling are disclosed. According to one method, a plurality of mode syntaxes are used to signal a current mode used for the current block.     Abstract: Method and apparatus for constrained de-blocking filter are disclosed. According to one method, a current block is partitioned into a plurality of sub-blocks using SDIP (Short Distance Intra Prediction mod). A first Bs (boundary strength) for an internal block boundary of the plurality of sub-blocks is determined by setting the first Bs to a second Bs of an Intra-coded boundary block of the current block. De-blocking process is applied, using the first Bs, to reconstructed samples across the internal block boundary of the plurality of sub-blocks to generate filtered-reconstructed samples.     Abstract: A method and apparatus for alternative transforms in a video coding system according to a control flag are disclosed. In one embodiment, the control flag for the current PU is determined. If the control flag is on, a first transform is applied to each current TU (transform unit) at an encoder side or an inverse transform of the first transform is applied to each current TU at a decoder side if the current TU has a first boundary type. Furthermore, a second transform is used for each current TU if the current TU has a second boundary type. The first transform is different from the second transform.     Abstract: A method and apparatus of motion vector reconstruction based on one MVP (motion vector predictor) and one MVD (motion vector difference) are disclosed. According to this method, input data associated with a video sequence including a current block in a current picture are received. Candidate reconstructed MV (motion vector) positions corresponding to all candidate sign pairs of the MVD are derived, where each candidate reconstructed MV position is derived as a vector sum of the MVP and the first magnitude and the second magnitude of the MVD with one candidate sign pair of the MVD. Template matching between the template for the current block and a corresponding template for each candidate reconstructed MV position is evaluated. A target candidate MV position among all candidate reconstructed MV positions is selected. The current block is encoded or decoded using a target candidate MV corresponding to the target candidate MV position.

    Abstract: Method and apparatus of video coding using decoder derived motion information based on bilateral matching or template matching are disclosed. According to one method, an initial motion vector (MV) index is signalled in a video bitstream at an encoder side or determined from the video bitstream at a decoder side. A selected MV is then derived using bilateral matching, template matching or both to refine an initial MV associated with the initial MV index. In another method, when both MVs for list 0 and list 1 exist in template matching, the smallest-cost MV between the two MVs may be used for uni-prediction template matching if the cost is lower than the bi-prediction template matching. According to yet another method, the refinement of the MV search is dependent on the block size. According to yet another method, merge candidate MV pair is always used for bilateral matching or template matching.
