Abstract: A method of intra predicting a block of a picture, comprising determining a predicted sample value from one or more reference sample values by intra-prediction using an intra prediction mode selected from one of a DC intra-prediction mode, a planar intra prediction mode, and an angular intra-prediction mode; determining a first and second weights based on the intra prediction mode and one of the height of the block, the width of the block, or both; calculating an additional value as a weighted sum of a top reference sample value and a left reference sample value; multiplying the predicted sample value by a sample weighting factor, resulting in a weighted predicted sample value; adding the additional value to the weighted predicted sample value, resulting in a non-normalized modified predicted sample value; and normalizing the non-normalized modified predicted sample value.

Abstract: Devices and methods of intra prediction of a block of a picture are provided. The method includes obtaining reference samples of a block, and determining a value of a predicted sample based on the reference samples and an intra prediction mode. The method further includes obtaining a value of a multiplier based on at least one dimension of the block, and normalizing the value of the predicted sample based on the value of the multiplier and a value of a shift. The intra prediction mode is INTRA_DC, or INTRA_BI, or horizontal intra prediction mode. By normalizing the value of the predicted sample based on the value of the multiplier and a value of a shift without division operation, the method could increase intra prediction efficiency.

Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for Intra Sub-Partitions (ISP) are provided. The first condition includes the information of ISP indicates that ISP is used for splitting the luma coding block. SubWidthC and SubHeightC are variables depending on chroma format information. The chroma format information indicates a chroma format of a picture the coding unit belongs to. The method can apply to all chroma format. The chroma format includes at least one of: 4:2:0, or 4:2:2, or 4:4:4. An accurate and versatile way to determine the size of the chroma transform block for the ISP is achieved.

Abstract: An intra prediction method using a cross component liner prediction mode (CCLM), includes: obtaining neighboring luma samples of a luma block; obtaining a mean luma value of the neighboring luma samples; obtaining neighboring chroma samples of a current chroma block, wherein the current chroma block corresponds to the luma block; obtaining a mean chroma value of the neighboring chroma samples; calculating a second linear model coefficient based on a first linear model coefficient, the mean luma value, and the mean chroma value; and obtaining a predictor for the current chroma block based on the first linear model coefficient and the second linear model coefficient. The method can increase the accuracy of the second linear model coefficient, and correspondingly increase the accuracy of the predictor for the current chroma block.
