    摘要: A method and apparatus for enhancing explosive yield is provided. The apparatus generally includes an energetic charge operatively associated with a guide. The guide is operatively associated with a reactive material. According to an aspect of the method, the energetic charge is activated to produce a shockwave to impact a reactive material. The shockwave is focused by the guide to impact the reactive material. Impacting the reactive material releases energy in the reactive material to enhance the yield of the energetic charge.

    摘要: A Dual Initiation Strip Charge (DISC) apparatus is initiated by a single initiation source and detonates a strip of explosive charge at two separate contacts. The reflection of explosively induced stresses meet and create a fracture and breach a target along a generally single fracture contour and produce generally fragment-free scattering and no spallation. Methods for making and implementing a DISC apparatus provide numerous advantages over previous methods of creating explosive charges by utilizing steps for rapid prototyping; by implementing efficient steps and designs for metering consistent, repeatable, and controlled amount of high explosive; and by utilizing readily available materials.

    摘要: A shellcase body for use as part of an ammunition cartridge, which includes a base portion at one end, a middle portion having a substantially straight sidewall and joined with the base portion, and a shoulder portion joined to and extending from the middle portion. A neck portion may be joined to and extend from the shoulder portion. The shoulder portion is typically annularly shaped and includes a semi-circular sidewall that extends between an aft end and a fore end. The semi-circular sidewall has a curvature that is defined by a circular arc having a predetermined radius and a center that is positioned a distance away from the shellcase body center longitudinal axis. The shoulder portion is joined with the straight sidewall at a secant point of the circular arc, i.e., the straight sidewall defines a secant line that intersects the circular arc at the aforementioned secant point.

The device is made of a castable, energetic material, and shaped to meet specific clearing requirements.     摘要: Cure shrink-resistant missile motor cases are disclosed along with their method for construction. These cases comprise a matrix resin composition which includes a bisspiroortho carbonate as a fourth component, a curing agent of o-phenylenediamine boron trifluoride etherate as a third component, butanediol diglycidyl ether as a second component, and equal parts by weight of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A and epoxidized dimer of oleic acid as a second component and additionally, they comprise, in combination therewith, a high strength fiber reinforcement material selected from the group consisting of fibers of glass, graphite, and poly-p-ethylene terephthalamide (Kevlar). The specific bisspiroortho carbonate which achieves an expansion of the matrix resin on polymerization or curing is 3,9-bis(5'-norbornene-2'-yl)-1,5,7,11-tetraoxaspiro [5.5]undecane. The expansion on curing prevents or decreases the inherent stress build-up in a fiber coated and filament wound composite motor case which is normally encountered when a standard matrix resin shrinks on polymerization or curing. A typical, standard resin includes the first two components and TONOX 60/40 which is a mixture comprised of 65% 4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane, 10% triamines, and 25% polyamines.
