Abstract:
An image forming system includes a color test chart that has a pattern with three tonality levels for each color component. A reading device can read the test chart as well as an original image and generates image signals representing the one of the test chart and original image thus read. A .gamma.-correcting circuit corrects the image signals in accordance with a .gamma.-correction characteristic and an image forming apparatus forms an image on the basis of the image signal that has been .gamma.-corrected by the .gamma.-correcting circuit. A discriminator discriminates a reproduction condition of tonality, including half tones, on the basis of the image of the test chart when formed by the image forming apparatus and thus produces a discrimination signal representing the discrimination. The .gamma.-correction characteristic used by the .gamma.-correcting circuit is selected in accordance with the discrimination signal so produced so as to obtain an appropriate reproduction condition of tonality, including half tones, in its entirety. Accordingly, color images having high fidelity may be produced.
Abstract:
An RF drive network provides RF drive power to a device such as an ion deposition print cartridge synchronized with the natural resonance of the driver/device system. A voltage to current amplifier is fed by a power one-shot which triggers on a zero crossing feedback signal from the drive line, resulting in precise drive pulse synchronization and controlled drive power. A second feedback signal biases the amplifier to achieve uniformity in drive voltage and timing despite variations in component characteristics. A fault detector is connected to plural drive lines, and upon detection of an open line condition inhibits the drivers for all lines. A resonance shifting circuit shifts the resonance of each driver in its off state to damp oscillations and eliminate crosstalk between drivers. Preferred constructions drive ion deposition print cartridges for a selectable number of pulses for a desired charged distribution on a print drum, so as to achieve selective toner deposition and vary the print dot size or color.

Abstract:
In multi-color reversal development, good color balance is obtained by changing the time duration of exposure for each different color frame. A dot printer apparatus produces a series of different color-resolved electrostatic latent images on a recording member. The apparatus includes an array of discrete elements for dot recording on the recording medium. The elements are selectively enable for predetermined periods of time during a cycle of operation to form a color-resolved electrostatic latent image on the recording member. Each charge latent image is developed with selected toner particles according to its resolved color. A control signal representative at least in part of the resolved color of each latent image is produced, and the control signal determines the enablement time of the elements during each cycle of operation according to each resolved color.
Abstract:
An area setting device for setting coordinates of two points in a diagonal direction in one or more areas to be copied by a photocopier utilizing key operation in sequence, in which different colors are used for coordinate display in each direction. The same colors as the coordinate displays are used for coordinate input indicators. All the points are memorized as to whether coordinates have been applied. A key input is accepted for the first point not having coordinates applied, and this converts the memorized condition. Key input acceptance and memory state conversion are repeated for all the points required.
Abstract:
A printer control system including a printer and a control unit for controlling the printer is disclosed. The printer function designating information which is used to designate the functions, which vary in accordance with the kind of a job to be done, of the printer is stored in a memory in the control unit. When a printing operation of the printer is started, the function designating information is outputted from the memory, transmitted from the control unit to the printer and stored temporarily in a memory provided in the printer. Various kinds of operations are carried out in accordance with a control code transmitted from the control unit to the printer, and an operation for a designated job is carried out with reference to the function designating information. The designation of functions include the designation of the magnetic recording density of a printing medium having magnetic stripes, and the designation of the function of operation keys for controlling the feeding and discharge of the printing medium.
