Abstract:
A method and system for simplifying required printer commands and facilitating print speed of both laser and inkjet printers is disclosed. When an operating system outputs a print page, a printer driving unit firstly estimates the time respectively consumed by applying the raster bitmap and high-level printer language approaches. Estimation of the printer driving unit is then routed into a print page processing unit for further processing. The print page is manipulated by using the raster bitmap approach in the print page processing unit when the time consumption of the print page estimated by using the raster bitmap approach is less than the other one. Otherwise, the print page is divided into a plurality of print bands for further processing. Complexity of the printer commands required for each print band is then estimated to judge whether the complexity is higher than a predetermined band threshold. All those print bands whose complexities are higher than the band threshold are processed to generate raster bitmap data firstly, and followed by encapsulating the data into printer commands before storing back to memory. All printer commands of the print bands are fetched from the memory and then printed via a printer engine after color matching and halftoning processing are performed for graphics and texts.
Abstract:
A method for achieving multiple exposure levels for IOI (IMAGE-ON-IMAGE) xerography when imaging a second color through a first toner layer previously developed on the photoreceptive member. In the example illustrated the data from the previous image paths (magenta and yellow) is analyzed. If the signal indicates that a magenta or yellow bit is present, the cyan output bit information passes to the ROS unchanged, or at full intensity. If however, the magenta and yellow are not present, a modified pattern providing an appropriate reduced exposure signal is sent to the ROS. The process of laser attenuation is blended with halftoning logic to avoid image degradation due to the attenuation.
Abstract:
To form an exposed image with striking contrast on photosensitive material and form a high definition and high quality image, a first beam modulated according to an image signal and a second beam modulated according to an inverted image signal generated by inverting this image signal with smaller deelectrification effect than the first beam are synthesized on the photosensitive material.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for reproducing high quality images using an electrophotographic printing machine is disclosed. More specifically, the present invention is used to change the location, shape and size of a process control patch. Process control patches may be used to improve the quality of an image prior to printing. The intensity of light reflected from the control patch is measured, and the measurements are used to change parameters such as magnitude of electrostatic charge, and toner concentration, before the latent image developed. Adjusting these parameters at this time will allow the printing apparatus to reproduce images having superior quality than previously available.
Abstract:
A circuit for generating strobe signals to one line light emitting diode arrays of an light emitting diode print head, comprises: a portion for generating a start signal in response to a clock signal, a start pulse, and a synchronization pulse of a central processing unit; a counter for generating a counter signal indicative of counts of the clock signals initiated in response to the start signal; a comparator for comparing the counter signal and strobe period selection signals indicative of a selected period of the strobe signals, and for generating a comparator signal indicative of the comparison; a clock controller for generating a gating clock controlling length of the strobe signals by latching the comparator signal; a signal output portion for generating individual ones of the strobe signals in response to strobe control signals, the strobe signals having lengths determined by the gating clock; and a strobe controller for generating the strobe control signals by latching the gating clock received from the signal output portion. Consequently, strobe signal generation is accomplished without the continuous control of the central processing unit.
Abstract:
In a write white color xerographic system which builds up layers of color toner on a web prior to transfer to paper, the method of generating a toner mark on the belt on the first pass by use of the scanning laser, and of detecting that mark on subsequent passes to ensure registration of the first and subsequent passes. The marks are made on the photoreceptor slightly before and after the image area to indicate the area and shape of the image area, and are used in conjunction with ordinary start and end of scan detectors which are used to determine scan speed.

Abstract:
A non-impact dot printer such as an LED printer, records grey levels of each dot by pulse width modulating the exposure on-time for each LED. The on-time of each LED for each exposure is controlled by comparing a count, representing an exposure time, with a second time changing count. The time changing count changes in accordance with clock periods of varying periodicity that are determined in accordance with human perception response criteria. This allows for the need for fewer data bits to define grey scale and exposure correction information reducing the number of data lines otherwise required.
