A system for detecting movement of a writing implement relative to a writing surface to determine the path of the writing implement. The writing implement tip is determined within the image and used to form a kernel. The determination is made either manually, by looking for a predetermined pen tip shape, or by looking for a position of maximum motion in the image. That kernel is tracked from frame to frame to define the path of the writing implement. The tracking is accomplished by correlating the kernel to the image: either to the whole image, to a portion of the image near the last position of the kernel, or to a portion of the image predicted by a prediction filter.

A preferred embodiment of the invention is an apparatus for measuring the position of a point with respect to at least one axis. The apparatus includes a reference electrode located at the reference point and at least one axial electrode fixed along the at least one axis. The axial electrode has a signal transmission property, such as resistivity, as measured between a first end and a point along the axis, which signal transmission property varies with the location of the point of measurement. The axial electrode is coupled to the reference electrode, typically capacitively. The apparatus also includes means for applying an electric signal to the reference electrode; means for measuring an output electric signal at the first end of the at least one axial electrode; and means for evaluating the relation between the output electric signal and the input electric signal to determine the position of the reference point relative to the axis. The invention also includes method of using the apparatus to determine the location of the reference point to the axis. The invention includes embodiments of one and more axes.

In an embodiment, the image processing method comprises: matching two corresponding feature points for two images, respectively, to become a feature point set; selecting at least five most suitable feature point sets, by using an iterative algorithm; calculating a most suitable radial distortion homography between the two images, according to the at least five most suitable feature point sets; and fusing the images captured by the at least two cameras at each of timing sequences, by using the most suitable radial distortion homography.

Approaches to generating photogrammetry data are provided. In some implementations, a capture device captures a sequence of images of a physical environment while device poses of the capture device are tracked as the capture device moves around the physical environment. For each of image of images in the sequence of images, a corresponding device pose is stored as metadata of the image. Using photogrammetry, a three-dimensional (3D) model of the physical environment is generated from the images, where the photogrammetry uses for each image of the images, the corresponding device pose from the metadata of the image to generate the 3D model. In further respects, a user feedback loop can be used to direct a user to move the capture device to particular device poses for the capture of the images. Further camera properties used to capture an image may be stored in its metadata and used by the photogrammetry.

Based on the fact that hand-written characters can be finished in one stroke, the present disclosure includes identifying linking feature information of strokes inside or between the hand-written characters, forming a curve linked between the strokes inside or between the hand-written characters according to the linking feature information, and performing three-dimensional modeling of the hand-written characters to obtain a three-dimensional printing object.
