Abstract: A method and an apparatus for monitoring device-to-device (D2D) transmission in a connected state in a communication system supportive of a D2D scheme are provided. The method includes monitoring, by a D2D user equipment (UE), a D2D transmission during a D2D resource cycle and a discontinuous reception (DRX) cycle in a radio resource control (RRC) state, transmitting an indication including a capability of the UE to a base station, and reestablishing an RRC connection from the base station, wherein the D2D resource cycle and the DRX cycle are configured not to overlap each other based on the indication.

The D2D communication method includes the operations of receiving, by a first terminal, system information including a threshold value for link quality with a base station (BS) from the BS, measuring, by the first terminal, the strength of a signal from a serving cell, comparing, by the first terminal, the measured strength of the signal with the threshold value, and searching for a second terminal acting as a relay between the first terminal and a network when the measured strength of the signal is less than the threshold value on the basis of the compared result.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates 5G or pre-5G communication systems for supporting higher data transmission rate than those by LTE or other post-4G communication systems. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method for allocating a resource in a communication system includes determining a beam to be used for data communication between a UE and the base station based on beam feedback information from the UE. The method also includes releasing resource allocation for a beam used previously depending on whether the determined beam is changed from the previously used beam, allocating a resource for the determined beam, and transmitting information related to the resource allocation for the determined beam to the UE.

Abstract: A method of providing an optimal transmission or reception (Tx/Rx) beam in a beamforming system. The method includes receiving a reference signal and selecting an optimal Tx/Rx beam that guarantees an optimal channel environment based on the received reference signal determining a possibility of occurrence of a Tx/Rx beam mismatch between the selected optimal Tx/Rx beam and a Tx/Rx beam used for transmitting information on the selected optimal Tx/Rx beam; and when there is the possibility of the occurrence of the Tx/Rx beam mismatch, performing at least one of widening a beam width of the Tx/Rx beam, increasing a number of Tx/Rx beams, reducing a period of a beam selection operation for selecting the optimal Tx/Rx beam, and reducing a transmission period of the reference signal. Other embodiments including a beamforming system are also disclosed.
