Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may receive, at a first location in a downlink signal, preemption information that identifies a second location of a first type of traffic that preempts a second type of traffic, the first location relative to the second location being based at least in part on a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) configuration of the UE. The apparatus may receive the first type of traffic at the second location. The apparatus may generate a HARQ response associated with the first type of traffic. The apparatus may transmit the HARQ response based at least in part on the HARQ configuration of the UE.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a time division duplex (TDD) subframe structure that supports both single and multiple interlace modes of operation. In a single interlace mode, control information, data information corresponding to the control information and acknowledgement information corresponding to the data information are included in a single subframe. In a multiple interlace mode, at least one of the control information, the data information corresponding to the control information or the acknowledgement information corresponding to the data information is included in a different subframe. Both single and multiple interlace modes can be multiplexed together within the TDD subframe structure.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods associated with interference aware sounding reference signals are provided. A method for wireless communication includes receiving, at a wireless communication device in communication with a first base station, an interfering signal from a second base station (or other base stations); determining, at the wireless communication device, a spatial direction of the interfering signal; and transmitting, with the wireless communication device, a signal to the first base station based on the spatial direction of the interfering signal. Another method of wireless communication includes receiving, at a first base station, a signal from a wireless communication device, the signal based on a spatial direction of an interfering signal received by the wireless communication device from a second base station (or other base stations); transmitting, with the first base station, a downlink communication to the wireless communication device, the downlink communication beamformed in the spatial direction based on the signal received from the wireless communication device.

It can be determined, at a user equipment (UE), that communications with a base station are configured over a connection associated with a threshold reliability. Based at least in part on this determination, a configured transmit power can be adjusted to an adjusted transmit power for a transmission attempt over the connection. Data can then be transmitted at the adjusted transmit power.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication between a first wireless device and a second wireless device are described. A second wireless device may determine that a channel condition satisfies at least one channel condition threshold. The second wireless device may identify, based on the determination, a time-interleaved transmission scheme for block(s) of encoded information. The second wireless device may transmit the block(s) of encoded information to a first wireless device in accordance with at least the time-interleaved transmission scheme. In some instances, the first wireless device may determine that the channel condition satisfies the at least one channel condition threshold and send a message to the second wireless device in order to trigger the use of the time-interleaved transmission scheme.

Abstract: Various techniques provide for identifying and transmitting a first transmission to a UE in a first transmission time interval (TTI), and puncturing a portion of the first transmission with a higher priority second transmission that has a shorter TTI than the first TTI. The punctured portion of the first transmission may then be transmitted in a subsequent portion of the first TTI, concurrently with an originally allocated portion of the first transmission for that subsequent portion of the TTI. A UE may identify the punctured portion of the first transmission, and identify that the punctured portion of the first transmission is being transmitted in the subsequent portion of the first TTI. The UE may decode the received transmissions and merge the punctured portion with other, non-punctured, portions of the first transmission.

Abstract: Techniques are described that provide for resource block (RB) alignment in mixed numerology wireless communications, in which a number of RBs for a particular numerology may occupy less than an entire system bandwidth. A fractional bandwidth may be identified as a difference between the bandwidth of the integer number of RBs and the system bandwidth and may be used to transmit information using one or more fractional RBs that may have a same or different numerology as the integer number of RBs. In some examples a placement scheme may be selected for placing the integer number of RBs, one or more fractional RBs, and/or one or more guard bands, within the system bandwidth. Numbering schemes for transmitted RBs and placement schemes may be signaled or may be implicitly determined based on one or more numerologies of the transmitted RBs or transmitted fractional RBs.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide a self-contained subframe structure for time division duplex (TDD) carriers. Information transmitted on a TDD carrier may be grouped into subframes, and each subframe can provide communications in both directions (e.g., uplink and downlink) to enable such communications without needing further information in another subframe. In one aspect of the disclosure, a single subframe may include scheduling information, data transmission corresponding to the scheduling information, and acknowledgment packets corresponding to the data transmission. Furthermore, the subframe may additionally include a header and/or a trailer to provide certain bi-directional communications functions.

Abstract: Techniques are described that provide nested constellations in which a lower order modulation scheme may be nested within constellation points of a higher-order modulation scheme. A higher-order modulation scheme, having a first constellation, may be used for a first subset of transmissions (e.g., data payload transmissions). A lower-order modulation scheme, having a second constellation, may be used for a second subset of transmissions (e.g., reference signal transmissions, embedded control transmissions, tapered payload transmissions, etc.). A subset of constellation points of the first constellation may be selected for transmitting the second subset of transmissions. A receiver may receive the transmissions and demodulate/decode the transmissions. In the event that other transmitters are transmitting concurrently, and using similar nested constellation techniques, the receiver may be able to perform improved interference mitigation compared to interference mitigation that may be performed on interfering signals that use different constellation points.
