A housing assembly for a lightweight electronic device for vehicular application is virtually “fastenerless” and includes a one-piece case formed of a layered composite structure including polymer based, electrically insulating sheet material and electrically conductive sheet material that is compression molded or hydroformed to provide three-dimensional case details to accept one or more electronic devices such as circuit boards required for electrical control and display of vehicle based systems. The conductive sheet material is preferably a wire mesh which provides shielding from electrical anomalies and grounding of the circuit boards via exposed wire mesh pads and adjacent ground clips. Major components and subassemblies are self-fixturing during the final assembly process, eliminating the need for dedicated tools, fixtures and assembly equipment.

A method for reducing audible noise in a vehicle audio component includes steps of: determining that the audio component is or is about to be operating in a susceptible mode wherein it is likely to receive electrical interference caused by an electrical component operating in an interfering operating state; communicating to the electrical component that the audio component is operating in the susceptible mode; and changing operation of the electrical component from the interfering operating state to a non-interfering operating state less likely to generate electrical signals causing audible noise.

A vehicle or other host station includes first and second antennas, a fast semiconductor switch, a switching controller, and an RF receiver. The controller toggles the switch at a calibrated switching rate to selectively and alternately connect the first antenna to one of the RF receiver and a load having a calibrated impedance value. The first antenna may be a parasitic element in any embodiment using the load. The semiconductor switch may be a CMOS device or a Gallium Arsenide semiconductor switch. A switching control method for use in a vehicle or other host station having the first antenna, the second antenna, and the RF receiver includes transmitting a switching signal from the controller to the switch, and toggling the switch at a calibrated switching rate in response to the switching signal to selectively and alternately connect the first antenna to one of the RF receiver and the load.

In response to determining that the vehicle is in operation, some embodiments may be configured to create an altered auxiliary information by removing content from the auxiliary information display portion, provide the audio content portion for playback in the vehicle, and provide the altered auxiliary information for display in the vehicle, wherein the altered auxiliary information includes only a subset of features from the auxiliary information display portion.

The communication management system uses the context information, optionally in combination with communication device profiles, to determine how to manage incoming and/or ongoing calls or other communication sessions.
