The drive further includes a memory 300 for storing information defining a relation between the output value of the photodetector 10 and the output power of the laser light source 2 when the laser light source 2 is emitting the laser beam but the light reflected from the optical disc 100 fails to reach the photodetector 10; and a control section 400 for controlling the output power of the laser light source 2 based on the information stored in the memory 300 and the output of the photodetector 10 when the laser light source 2 is emitting the laser beam but the light reflected from the optical disc fails to reach the photodetector 10.

When recording information on an optical disk by irradiating laser light with a specified record power (Pw) to form a train of record pits, the recording is performed while forcing a value (CF) of B/Pw2 to be kept substantially constant, where B is the value obtainable by sample-hold of a reflection light amount upon irradiation of the laser light with the specified record power (Pw). Performing the recording in this way makes it possible to realize the recording quality with increased stability. In addition, upon alteration of a tilt angle, arithmetic processing is redone to thereby achieve the stability-enhanced recording quality.

    摘要: An optical pickup with a laser driver circuit is provided to overcome an increase in size of an optical pickup, which is caused by a ferrite bead or capacitor being provided in a drive current path to reduce EMI noise effects. In an optical disc apparatus, an optical sensor element detects a laser beam from a laser emission element included in an optical pickup circuit and then sends the detected signal to a main circuit board. An APC circuit in the main circuit board outputs a control signal to control the laser output from the laser emission element at a constant level in accordance with the detected signal from the optical sensor element. A laser driver circuit included in the optical pickup circuit incorporates a transistor and a high-frequency wave superposition circuit). The transistor produces a drive current in accordance with the control signal from the APC circuit, while the high-frequency wave superposition circuit superposes a high-frequency current on the drive current. The drive current superposed with the high-frequency current drives the laser emission element.

    摘要: An optical pick-up for selective playback and recording on a magneto-optically recording medium, in which light is projected from a source onto the medium. The light is provided with a direction of a polarization, and is either reflected from the recording medium or is transmitted through the medium. The reflected or transmitted light becomes deflected onto a predetermined one of several photodetectors, depending on the direction of polarization of the light. The intensity of the reflected light or the transmitted light is held constant to minimize noise components that result from the optical properties of different recorded media as well as from the light. By holding the light intensity constant, moreover, precise readjustment to each of the different recording media that may be used, is not necessary.
