摘要： In a method and apparatus for producing sheets or plates by hot rolling slabs in a number of passes, the slabs are alternately deformed more strongly and less strongly between a pair of rolls at least in one pass, and when the slabs are less strongly deformed, a condition according to which .alpha.' is equal to or smaller than .rho. is observed, while when the slabs are more strongly deformed, a condition according to which .rho. is smaller than .alpha. smaller than 2 .rho. is observed, .alpha. and .alpha.' being the angles of engagement and .rho. being the angle of friction, and differences in thickness in longitudinal direction of the slabs are levelled out in a subsequent pass.

摘要： A rotary die cutter comprises a pair of plate and anvil cylinders rotatable about fixed and spaced axes for die cutting a web passing therebetween. A die cutting plate is secured along the periphery of the plate cylinder, and an anvil plate is secured along the periphery of the anvil cylinder. The clearance between plate and anvil cylinders is determined by the thickness of the anvil plate thereby providing an interference between plates for a clear-through die cut or a gap for die cutting less than each layer of a multi-layered material depending on the thickness of the anvil plate selected.

摘要： An improved method for fabricating honeycomb cylindrical rolls of the type wherein the honeycomb cylindrical structure is made of thin corrugated strips of metal. Adjacent strips are bonded together at intervals and groups of adjacent strips are swaged together at both ends forming integral, composite end pieces which are then positioned into slots in circular end members of each cylindrical roll. The improved method of fabrication includes encircling the swaged and positioned end pieces with a strip of brazing material and then uniformly heating each of the end members, while slowly rotating the roll on its longitudinal axis causing the brazing material to melt and flow freely, by capillary attraction into each slot, thereby brazing the swaged end pieces to the circular end member.

摘要： In a roll assembly comprising a roll body and a ring made of hard material mounted securely on the barrel surface of said roll body by suitable tightening means, at least one of the lateral surfaces of the hard ring is formed in an outer-conical surface to which a clamp ring having a corresponding inner-conical surface is abutted thereon. The inside diameter of the clamp ring is substantially greater than the outside diameter of the roll body at the corresponding portion. The roll ring is pre-tightened by said suitable means together with the clamp ring which is preheated to a suitable temperature. The thermal contraction after cooling elicits principal tightening force.

摘要： Apparatus for mounting a multi-groove work roll on a roll shaft in a rolling mill. The apparatus includes a shoulder on the roll shaft, a spacer assembly on the roll shaft in engagement at one end with the shoulder, the opposite end of the spacer assembly being in engagement with a work roll axially received on the roll shaft, and a retainer assembly for holding the work roll against the spacer assembly in an operative position with one of the roll grooves aligned with the mill pass line. The spacer assembly includes at least one removable element, the presence or absence of which will change the axial length of the spacer assembly by a distance equal to the spacing between the centers of adjacent grooves on the work roll.
