摘要: A method of ultrasonically identifying vulnerable plaque includes gathering an intra-vascular ultrasound data signal. The intra-vascular ultrasound data signal is characterized as a function of relative amplitude and frequency to define a spectral slope associated with fibrotic tissue. Alternately, the intra-vascular ultrasound data signal is characterized as a mean power signal. Vulnerable plaque is then identified based upon the spectral slope and/or the mean power signal.

摘要: An ultrasound medical treatment system includes an end effector insertable into a patient. The end effector includes a tissue-retaining device. The tissue-retaining device includes a first tissue-retaining member having an ultrasound medical-treatment transducer and includes a second tissue-retaining member. The first and second tissue-retaining members are operatively connected together to retain patient tissue between the first and second tissue-retaining members and to release patient tissue so retained. In one example, the second tissue-retaining member has an ultrasound reflector. In the same or a different example, the ultrasound medical-treatment transducer is an ultrasound imaging and medical-treatment transducer.

摘要: A matrix type ultrasonic probe is disclosed, which has a backing material, and a plurality of piezoelectric elements having upper and lower face electrodes, respectively, and arrayed in two-dimensional directions on the backing material. The ultrasonic probe further has first mounts provided for every piezoelectric element and fixedly secured to the backing material, signal lines provided for every piezoelectric element and embedded in the backing material to be exposed on the surface of the respective first mounts, and second mounts provided for every piezoelectric element to be fixedly secured to the lower face of the piezoelectric element and formed therein with through-holes. The first and second mounts are fixedly secured to one another by means of conductive adhesive, and the signal lines and the lower face electrodes are electrically connected to one another by means of the conductive adhesive.

摘要: A variable type ultrasonic probe is provided, in which each of piezoelectric units accommodated in the probe is separated into a plurality of piezoelectric elements, and the piezoelectric units are easily arrayed in an arcuately curved arrangement. The ultrasonic probe has therein a piezoelectric unit separated into at least three piezoelectric elements, i.e., a central element and both opposite end elements, and disposed on a backing member in a manner such that a lower face electrode of each piezoelectric element is led out. A leading-out wiring board provided with conductive paths formed on both major faces thereof is arranged on the lower faces of the one end and central piezoelectric elements. The lower face electrodes of the one end element and central element are electrically led out by the upper face conductive path and the lower face conductive path of the leading-out wiring board, respectively.

摘要: A method for ultrasound medical treatment of a patient. An end effector is obtained having an ultrasound medical-treatment transducer assembly. A blood vessel is identified in the patient which supplies blood to a lesion. The blood vessel is medically treated with ultrasound from the transducer assembly to substantially seal the blood vessel to substantially stop the supply of blood to the lesion from the blood vessel. In one example, the ultrasound medical-treatment transducer assembly is an ultrasound imaging and medical-treatment transducer assembly. In one variation, the end effector is inserted into the patient. In another variation, the end effector remains outside the patient.

摘要: An ultrasound transducer array (408) includes at least one transducer element (412) having a first (604) and second (606) portions separated by an acoustical discontinuity (520). The first portion (604) has the desired length to form a half-wave k31 resonance, while the second portion (606) has a resonant length for an undesired very low frequency out-of-band k31 resonance. The thickness of the transducer element (412) is designed for k33 half-resonance. Given the design, the transducer element (412) can operate and provide for both forward-looking (514) and side looking (512) elevation apertures. A method is also disclosed for using the disclosed ultrasound transducer (412) in ultrasound imaging.
