A repolarization system including an ultrasonic probe includes a plurality of transducers, a voltage generator, a switch, a connector, an interface, and a controller. The plurality of transducers are provided in the ultrasonic probe. Each one or more of the transducers is provided with a pair of electrodes. The voltage generator is configured to generate a predetermined voltage high enough to repolarize the transducers. The switch is configured to switch to supply the voltage to the pair of electrodes. The connector is configured to connect the pair of electrodes to the switch through a plurality of lands. Each of the plurality of lands corresponds to the pair of electrodes. The lands are provided to keep insulation enough to repolarize the transducers among the lands. The interface is configured to give an instruction. The controller is configured to control the voltage generator to generate the predetermined voltage. The controller is further configured to control the switch to supply the predetermined voltage to the pair of electrodes in accordance with the instruction.

The base is made of soft material, having an upper side and a lower side, with a support set on the upper side. The membrane is able to perform vibrations, having an outer side and an inner side, which is laid on the support. The first electrode is placed on the base and the second electrode placed in the membrane, the first and second electrodes being connected with a voltage source. Manufacturing the flexible ultrasonic transducer requires less steps without increasing cost. By having a flexible shape, emission and reception of ultrasonic waves as well as an effective area are enhanced, with less attenuation of ultrasonic waves, resulting in more effective sensing.

The apparatus comprises a sensor assembly including two linear transducer arrays oriented perpendicular to each other to form a nullTnull shape, to provide ultrasound images of at least one blood vessel in a portion of a patient's body in two perpendicular planes. The sensor assembly may be disposed within an elongated, flexible, protective sheath and secured to a frame to facilitate orientation of the sensor assembly on the patient and guidance of a needle towards a desired target vessel during the cannulation procedure. The sensor assembly may also include associated structure to cooperate with a reference location element to place, align and secure the sensor assembly to the patient's skin at a desired location.

One method includes selecting a desired transmit spectrum, quantifying the transmit channel impulse response, calculating a drive signal that when applied to the transmit channel will produce the desired transmit spectrum and applying the drive signal to the transducer. The method may be applied in principle to the receive channels. An improved ultrasound-imaging system in accordance with the invention includes a transducer and a switch controlled to apply an excitation signal to the transducer in a transmit mode of the ultrasound-imaging system. A signal shaper is configured to generate an excitation signal in response to the impulse response of the transmit channel such that a desired ultrasound energy waveform is generated by the transducer. An adaptable filter responsive to a desired echo spectrum and the impulse response of the receive channel of the system may be included.

The fuel for the fuel cells is contained in replaceable containers such as cartridges or ampules. A system and method is provided for using backscattered data and known parameters to characterize vascular tissue. Specifically, in one embodiment of the present invention, an ultrasonic device is used to acquire RF backscattered data (i.e., IVUS data) from a blood vessel. The IVUS data is then transmitted to a computing device and used to create an IVUS image. The blood vessel is then cross-sectioned and used to identify its tissue type and to create a corresponding image (i.e., histology image). A region of interest (ROI), preferably corresponding to the identified tissue type, is then identified on the histology image. The computing device, or more particularly, a characterization application operating thereon, is then adapted to identify a corresponding region on the IVUS image. To accurately match the ROI, however, it may be necessary to warp or morph the histology image to substantially fit the contour of the IVUS image. After the corresponding region is identified, the IVUS data that corresponds to this region is identified. Signal processing is then performed and at least one parameter is identified. The identified parameter and the tissue type (e.g., characterization data) is stored in a database. In another embodiment of the present invention, the characterization application is adapted to receive IVUS data, determine parameters related thereto (either directly or indirectly), and use the parameters stored in the database to identify a tissue type or a characterization thereof.
