The portable computer may include a base unit having a primary input device, such as a keyboard or pointing device, and a display unit having a display device. The base unit and the display unit may be coupled so that the display unit can be moved relative to the base unit to place the portable computer in a desired configuration.
Abstract:
A display device having an integral docking station to facilitate the display device to be used in conjunction with a palm sized computing device for applications executing on the palm sized computing device is disclosed. The display device includes a flat panel display, a display controller, a microcontroller, a docking station including a communication interface, and a chassis integrally housing the earlier enumerated elements. Together, the enumerated elements facilitate removable coupling of the palm sized computing device to the display device to allow the flat panel display to be used in conjunction with said palm sized computing device under the control of said microcontroller for applications executing on said palm sized computing device. In various embodiments, the display device additionally includes at least a selected one of a number of other I/O peripherals. In other embodiments, other extended I/O capabilities, such as storage media, keyboard and cursor control are also provided. In yet other embodiments, the I/O extending apparatus is included as an integral feature of an article of manufacture, such as a furnishing item.
Abstract:
LED image display system with rigid frames positioned in at least one vertical stack forming a planar vertical display, with vertical rigid bar members mounted to each of the frames and with equal spacing, and LED pixels mounted to each bar member. The pixels are equally spaced apart forming a matrix of pixels that project colored light beams. A rod bearing weight of the frames in tension is connected to each of the frames, and the rods have top and bottom connectors. Top connector of top frame is removably secured to an overhead support while bottom frame is spaced from stage or other surface. Bottom ring connector of weight-bearing rod of each stacked frame is removably connected to top hook connector of each below stacked frame. Each weight-bearing rod includes rod portions threadably connected to a turnbuckle for tightly positioning all adjoining frames of the stack; and system includes controls receiving video signals and processing same as either still color images and/or color animated images.
Abstract:
In a method for fixing an LCD panel on a notebook PC, spring latch holders are provided on the top of the LCD panel for fixing the LCD panel and the PC body together when the LCD panel is stored on the PC body. In a second aspect, side fins are provided on both sides of the bottom of the LCD panel, sidewalls are provided on both sides of a keyboard on the PC body, and the side fins are put on the sidewalls along the outer sides thereof so as to fix the LCD panel and prevent the side-to-side movement of the LCD panel. In a third aspect, projections are provided on backside edge portions at the bottom of the LCD panel, depressions for holding the projections are provided on the PC body, and the projections are engaged in the depressions to fix the LCD panel.
Abstract:
A notebook computer has a body cover which is hinged to a support rotatably carried by the body. The cover has a main display which in a closed position overlies the body and in an open position pivots and rotates the main display away from the body. A further embodiment of the present invention includes an auxiliary display which is hinged to the cover on the side opposite the main display. In a first, closed position the auxiliary display lies parallel with the cover and in a second, open position maintains an angle with the cover.
Abstract:
A liquid crystal display that resists idling of a nut used for fixing a liquid crystal module in a main supporter. In the liquid crystal display a main supporter holds a backlight unit and a liquid crystal display panel. A top case encloses edges of the liquid crystal display panel and the main supporter. An inserting nut is pressed into a cross-shaped hole in the top case. A screw threads into the inserting nut and into a recess in the main supporter to fix the top case to the main supporter.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an LCD capable of adaptively selecting a gamma curve based on a viewing angle. The LCD includes: a viewing angle detector for detecting the viewing angle of an LCD panel to generate information about the viewing angle, and a gamma curve determiner for selecting a gamma curve corresponding to the information of the viewing angle and controlling the gray level with a gamma voltage value defined by the selected gamma curve. The viewing angle detector has a driving voltage generator and a voltage divider. The driving voltage generator outputs a gate-on/off voltage and an analog driving voltage based on an externally input power, and the voltage divider drops the level of the gate-on voltage to generate a first voltage. A viewing angle generator outputs information about the viewing angle based on the analog driving voltage and the first voltage.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved hand held computer arrangement wherein data input is facilitated through a full function, folding keyboard, that is suitable for touch typing. In addition, the present invention utilizes an open architecture, embedded technology system design in conjunction with web based content to provide a full function affordable portal to the Internet.
Abstract:
A wall mounted control device such as a thermostat includes a front panel housing having a plurality of locating elements formed therein which allow the mounting of a display, a keyboard unit and a printed circuit board with respect to each other. The front panel housing includes a latch which engages an edge of the display following placement of the display into position within the front panel housing. The keyboard unit is positioned relative to the latched display. The printed circuit board is snapped into place beneath certain raised elements formed in the periphery of the front panel housing. The front panel housing with the thus assembled display, keyboard unit and printed circuit board therein is aligned and snap fitted to a rear or back housing of the wall mounted device.
Abstract:
The display device includes a pedestal having a planar pedestal main body to be placed on a placing object and a planar arm that is arranged in a standing manner having a specified angle against the pedestal main body, and a display portion that is installed to the arm in a swinging manner and has an image display portion. In the case where the center of gravity of the display portion is within a range of a projection surface of the pedestal, the swinging angle of the display portion can be optimally set.
