Abstract:
A processor issues a command to a memory through an electrical memory link and performs a process according to the command through the electrical memory link. The processor issues a routing command to an optical circuit switch (OCS) through an OCS control line. In response to the routing command, the OCS establishes a routing of an optical memory link from the processor to the BDM. In response to the establishment of the optical memory link from the processor to the BDM, the processor (or a BDM (internal/dedicated) controller) switches from performing the process through the electrical memory link to performing a process through the optical memory link (continuously without an interruption between the successive processes). Corresponding systems are also disclosed herein.
Abstract:
A usage model and the underlying technology used to provide sequence analysis as part of a relational database system. Included components include the semantic and syntactic integration of the sequence analysis with an existing query language, the storage methods for the sequence data, and the design of a multipart execution scheme that runs the sequence analysis as part of a potentially larger database join, especially using parallel execution techniques.

Abstract:
Providing a route guide to a destination using building information modeling (BIM) data. A request from a user for a route guide to a destination in a building is received. BIM data for the building, security information for a route, and a user profile of the user that requested the route guide to the destination is received. A route guide to the destination in the building is created, based at least on the BIM data, security information, and the user profile. Creating the route guide may be further based on use restriction information, including time, weight, operation, impassable information, information related to the method of using the facility equipment, or precaution information when using the facility equipment. The route guide may include a method of using the facility equipment in the building, a method of operating, a direction of operation, a method of unlocking or locking, or precaution information.
Abstract:
A client computer system receives a file that is at least partially encrypted. The client computer also receives a file manager and user input. In response to the user input matching data stored in an encrypted user profile, the client computer uses the file manager to decrypt the file based on a key stored in the encrypted user profile. The file is unusable if copied to another client computer, and the file manager manages usage of the file based on one or more terms of usage.
Abstract:
A method and system for distributing tasks from an external application among concurrent database application server instances in a database system for optimum load balancing, based on consensus among the instances. Each application instance identifies a task partition ownership by those in a membership group based on a time window and generates a new membership group and partition ownership based on the current partition ownership. The instance makes the new membership group and partition ownership known to other members by recoding them in the membership table and partition map. Each participation by an instance in the membership group is identified by a random number. The new membership group and partition ownership are generated and adjusted based on an average partition allocation to achieve consensus among the instances.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of search fusion methods for querying multimedia databases and more specifically to a method and system for constructing a multi-modal query of a multimedia repository by forming multiple uni-modal searches and explicitly selecting fusion methods for combining their results. The present invention also relates to the integration of search methods for content-based retrieval, model-based retrieval, text-based retrieval, and metadata search, and the use of graphical user interfaces allowing the user to form queries fusing these search methods.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a method and system for a storage controller to manage the allocation of emulated storage devices to physical storage segments. The space within the emulated devices is identified by a logical address. The storage controller is in communication with at least one host device and at least one physical storage device. A plurality of tables, each having entry spaces to store segment identification or segment table and entry identification, is established in the storage controller. The tables define a tree structure by which a segment to be accessed is identified by mapping a logical address through the tables to a segment identification. The number of tables, the number of pages in each table, and the number of entries in each page are selected to optimize the amount of space in the storage controller required by the tables and to ensure that the segments may be allocated in any proportion among the emulated storage devices, including all of the segments being allocated to a single emulated device. Moreover, the allocation of segments to emulated storage space is dynamic by changing the contents of the tables.
Abstract:
A method and a computer usable medium including a program for operating disks having units, comprising: providing a first tier of at least one disk, the first tier storing at least one popular unit, providing a second tier of at least one disk, the second tier storing at least one unpopular unit, powering on at least one first tier disk, powering down the second tier, determining whether a request for a unit requires processing on the first tier or second tier, accessing the requested unit if the requested unit requires processing on the first tier, and powering on a second tier disk to copy the requested unit from the second tier disk to a first tier disk, if the requested unit is stored on the second tier.
