    摘要: Grain-destroying insects, and those which may infect other types of particulate matter, when feeding and moving about, induce vibrations in the grain or particulate material affected which is modified and amplified to an audible level. The detection is performed using a crystal with piezoelectric properties directly and physically connected to a vibratory receiving structure such as an elongated probe, a thin, flat diaphragm or the like which mechanically amplifies the vibrations to the crystal. The vibratory sounds are then analyzed, such as by comparison with other records of known destructive insects to determine the probable species of insect and its location.

    摘要: Apparatus for detecting acoustic disturbances include an electrical circuit for processing electrical signals generated by an acoustic sensor in response to acoustic disturbances. The processing circuitry converts the electrical data signals into output signals wherein the information about the input audio signals is carried by the frequencies of the output signals. High frequency signals may be isolated and processed to provide relatively low frequency digital pulse signals which may be readily transmitted over wirelines in a logging operation. The sensor apparatus may include a stack of piezoelectric crystals which are electrically connected by means of pressure contacts.

    摘要: An improved method and apparatus are provided for making vibration sensors, particularly of the type used in automotive applications wherein a piezoelectric element is affixed to a flexing plate which is mounted on a support stem in "umbrella" fashion. A desired resonant vibrating frequency of the sensor is obtained by progressively working a neck portion of the support stem, as by peening, to effectively decrease the vibrating radius of the plate and thus increase its resonant frequency toward and to a desired resonant frequency. The plate's frequency is monitored and the working of the stem neck portion is terminated when a desired resonant frequency is attained. An inclined support shoulder on the stem below the neck portion facilitates the aforementioned manufacture. An undercut positioned in the stem neck portion near its transition into the support shoulder further facilitates the manufacture.

Several embodiments are disclosed and in each embodiment vibrations are directly transmitted from the vibrating body or surface to the piezoelectric element through the base, a very small half of a steel sphere.
