    摘要: A sluice for collecting cleaning bodies in the form of sponge rubber balls which are guided in the circulation of cooling water through the pipes of a heat exchanger having inlet and outlet connections, in particular a generating plant condenser, includes a return line passing through the sluice, the return line including an inlet line having a pump and an outlet line having a shut-off valve, a cylindrical housing including a sieve body and a shutting flap connected downstream of the sieve body, the housing being connected to the outlet connection of the heat exchanger through the inlet line and being connected to the inlet connection of the heat exchanger through the outlet line, and a flap trap disposed in the return line for the cleaning bodies between the outlet connection and the inlet connection of the heat exchanger. In order to catch the sponge rubber balls in the sluice after switching off the pump, to prevent a backflow of cooling water and thus to prevent a discharge of the balls, a flap trap which is capable of shutting off the inlet line is positioned inside the sluice housing.

    摘要: A foreign matter removing apparatus for removing foreign matters from cooling water such as sea water taken as the cooling water for the condenser of, for example, a power generating plant. The apparatus has an inversed frusto-conical barrel, a filter of a substantially same form as the barrel and disposed in the latter, a cooling water inlet pipe connected to a side portion of the barrel, a cooling water outlet pipe connected to an upper portion of the barrel, a foreign matter discharge pipe connected to a lower side portion of the barrel, and a butterfly valve disposed in the cooling water inlet at which the cooling water inlet pipe is connected to the barrel. The foreign matter discharge pipe is periodically opened while varying the opening degree or angular position of the butterfly valve thereby to remove and discharge foreign matters from the filter surface. The filter is provided at an upper portion thereof with a cover plate or, alternatively, non-perforated portion which effectively enhances the foreign matter removing ratio while eliminating the clogging of the filter and reducing the pressure drop.

The apparatus comprises a casing having a cylindrical cross-section, an inlet pipe connected to an upper portion of the wall of the casing and adapted to introduce the elastic balls together with the cooling water, a substantially frusto-conical separation sleeve disposed at the center of the casing and having a peripheral wall in which formed are a multiplicity of apertures shaped and sized to permit only the worn out elastic balls smaller than a predetermined size to pass therethrough, an annular swirling passage defined between the inner peripheral surface of the casing and the outer peripheral surface of the separation sleeve and adpated to impart a swirl to the cooling water suspending the elastic balls and introduced into the casing, an outlet pipe connected to a lower portion of the wall of the casing and adapted for taking out the valid elastic balls greater than the predetermined size, and a discharge pipe also connected to the casing and adapted for discharging the worn out elastic balls which have been introduced into the separation sleeve.

    摘要: A device for recovering cleaning elements, such as form-rubber balls or other particles, from a heat-exchanger stream traversing a tube-bundle heat exchanger comprises a vertically oriented cylindrical housing or duct traversed axially by the main stream of heat-exchanger fluid and at least one separating sieve built into the housing for intercepting particles entrained in the stream and recovering them therefrom. The separating sieve is inclined to the axis of the housing and has, at least partially, an ellipsoidal boundary where it meets the inner wall of the housing. At the lower part of the sieve a collecting tube is provided, along the ellipsoidal boundary, and is formed with a laterally open longitudinally extending slit constituted a mouth through which the particles pass into this tube. A fitting at the low point of the tube conducts the collected particles from the collecting tube. The heat exchange stream flows in part tangentially into the collecting tube through the slit to induce the particles to pass cleanly from the sieve into this mouth.

    摘要: Radio-actively contaminated surfaces are cleaned by blasting the surface with particles of boron trioxide propellled through a jet with compressed gas. As a result of the abrading action, the boron trioxide becomes contaminated with abraded, radio-active solid particles. The abraded solid particles are separated from the boron trioxide by admixing water to dissolve the boron trioxide and then filtering the boron trioxide aqueous solution containing abraded solid particles to separate and recover the abraded solid particles in the boron trioxide solution. The boron trioxide aqueous solution may be treated to recover boron trioxide particles. The separated radio-active particles may be sent to a treating plant for concentration and recovery of radioactive values.

    摘要: The present invention relates to a process and apparatus for producing unsaturated hydrocarbons, particularly olefins such as ethylene by thermal cracking of hydrocarbons. In conventional tubular cracking furnaces having an external heating system, by-produced coke which accumulates on the wall of the reaction tube, transfer line and cooling tube, is a serious hindrance to operation. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the coke by a chemical means with steam or air or by a mechanical means at an interval of 60 - 90 days. Prolongation of the interval between the decoking treatments has been desired. Although countermeasures have been considered from the viewpoint of operating conditions, they cannot provide a complete solution to the problem. As for starting materials, only gaseous materials or light oil fractions permit continuous operation for as long as 60 - 90 days.
