    摘要: A holding and sealing material (1) for a catalytic converter is disposed between a cylindrical catalyst carrier (3) and a metal shell (2) covering the outer periphery of the catalyst carrier (3). The holding and sealing material (1) comprises a fiber aggregate mainly comprised of alumina-silica based ceramic fibers having a mullite crystal content of 10 wt % or less, and the fiber aggregate is subjected to a needle punch treatment. Owing to the improved holding and sealing material, a catalytic converter having excellent durability and assemblage and having extremely low pollution characteristics is provided.

    摘要: Method for the production of binder-bound mineral wool products, in which mineral fibers are deposited on a production surface (13) to form a mineral wool web (12) and are compacted, and their relative positions are reoriented by mechanical action, for which purpose the web is guided on its large faces and at the same time forces, in particular upsetting forces, are introduced into the web in parallel with the large faces, the forces being introduced in introduction regions which are located next to one another transversely to the running direction in zones and in each case at a distance from one another and one behind the other in the running direction in longitudinal zones, and the introduction regions of adjacent longitudinal zones being arranged so as to be offset relative to one another, after which the binder is cured. The introduction regions are designed to be elongated in the running direction (14) of the mineral wool web (12), and the introduction regions of longitudinal zones located next to one another form overlap regions (27; 127). As a result, such high longitudinal forces can be introduced into the web that the material of the mineral wool web is exposed to a fulling action in the web plane.

    摘要: A mat of mineral fibers has a random or quasi-random fiber orientation. The fibers have diameters which, for the great majority of them, are 2.5 to 4.5 micrometers, and a length of 2 to 15 cm. Its density is less than 40 kg/m3. Its resistance to compression, for a crushing of 10%, is equal to at least 0.5 kN/m2. The fineness of the fibers and their random distribution imparts to the mat an exceptional lightness and an excellent flexibility, making possible the perfect application of the mat on cylindrical surfaces.

    摘要: A fiber preform is made solely from a deformable base fiber structure thats initially in the form of a plane plate constituted by superposed two-dimensional fiber plies bonded together by needling. Cuts and/or splits are formed in the base fiber structure, and the preform is made from the cut and/or split base fiber structure by making use of its ability to be deformed. The structural part is obtained by densifying the preform using a material that constitutes a composite material matrix. It is possible to use a single fiber structure plate which is deformed with the help of splits or cuts so as to obtain the desired preform and in which continuity of the base fiber structure is preserved, or else a plurality of base fiber structure plates can be used which are assembled together by mutual interfitting via the splits or cuts, by deforming at least one of the plates.
