A drum washing machine, in which scale deposited in a steam generating device installed for improving sterilizing and washing capacities is efficiently eliminated. The drum washing machine includes a housing; a tub for containing washing water; a drum rotatably installed in the tub; and a steam generating device installed in the housing for supplying steam for sterilizing laundry to the drum, wherein a scale eliminating unit is installed in a water supply channel of the steam generating device, and includes at least one protrusion formed on the inner circumferential surface of the water supply channel or a water supply valve and a pulsation circuit for controlling the flow rate and amount of the water. The scale eliminating unit forms turbulence in the steam generating device or supplies water having varied flow rate and amount to the steam generating device, thereby efficiently eliminating scale deposited in the steam generating device.

A thermocouple junction box for reducing EMF generated by a stud-and-cup configuration comprises a cup adapted to be electrically connected to a thermocouple sensing junction and a stud disposed, at least in part, within the cup, the stud being electrically isolated from the cup. In another aspect, a thermocouple junction box comprises a contact element adapted to be electrically connected to a thermocouple sensing junction and a stud mechanically coupled to the contact element by means of an insulating material and electrically isolated from the contact element by means of the insulating material. In a further aspect, a thermocouple assembly comprises a thermocouple sensing junction, a contact element, and a stud. The stud is adapted to receive thereon a conductive element electrically connected to a thermocouple cable, the stud being electrically isolated from and mechanically coupled to the contact element. The thermocouple cable is coupled to the thermocouple sensing junction via an interface between the conductive element and the contact element when the conductive element is disposed about the stud and seated on the contact element. In still another aspect, a method of reducing thermocouple error consistent with the invention comprises: in a thermocouple junction box having a stud fixedly disposed in relation to a contact element, electrically isolating the stud from the contact element.

Provided is a planar lightwave circuit (PLC) type optical transceiver module, in which for a diplex optical transceiver module that uses different wavelengths in upstream and downstream, an optical waveguide connected to a light-receiving unit is a multi-mode waveguide and an optical waveguide connected to the light-emitting unit is a single mode waveguide, and further, for a triplex optical transceiver module that uses one upstream wavelength and more than two different downstream wavelengths, an optical waveguide connected to the light-receiving unit, which is a waveguide-type photo diode, is a multi-mode waveguide and an optical waveguide connected to the light-emitting unit is a single mode waveguide, whereby even when there is an alignment error of a thin film filter due to irregularity provided in forming a trench, the optical waveguide connected to the light-receiving unit is formed wider than the optical waveguide connected to the light-emitting unit so that the loss during transmission of the optical signal to the light-receiving unit is minimized.

Provided are a temperature-insensitive polymeric optical AWG device and a method of manufacturing the same. The temperature-insensitive polymeric optical AWG device includes: a substrate; an input waveguide formed on the substrate; an output waveguide formed on the substrate so as to correspond to the input waveguide; polymeric grating channel waveguides interposed between free propagation slab regions on the substrate between the input and output waveguides and having difference lengths; a plurality of hollow trenches formed by selectively etching a surface of the substrate under the polymeric grating channel waveguides and allowing the polymeric grating channel waveguides to freely thermally expand from the substrate depending on a temperature variation so as to compensate for refractive indexes of the polymeric grating channel waveguides varying with the temperature variation; and a shield layer shielding entrances of the hollow trenches so that the polymeric grating channel waveguides do not flow into the hollow trenches, so as to separate the polymeric grating channel waveguides from the substrate.

Disclosed is a catheter used to pick a sample of a lesion cell tissue existing in the living body, and more particularly a catheter capable of freely coupling or separating a micro biopsy tool and picking a tissue required for an examination just by inserting and extracting the biopsy tool into and from a lesion region when picking the tissue. The catheter can pick a tissue required to diagnose and treat an examinee with a minimal invasion. Accordingly, it is possible to alleviate the examinee's pain and to prevent a perforation from occurring in the picked region when picking the tissue. In addition, according to the catheter of the invention, since the micro biopsy tool can be easily mounted and separated, the catheter can be semi-permanently used by continuously replacing the biopsy tool only.

A macro-micro cell structure of wireless communication system for separately processing a forward and a reverse telecommunications in order to increase a reverse link capacity is disclosed. The wireless telecommunication system has a macro cell and at least one micro cell within the macro cell. A micro cell signal processing unit processes a transmission and reception signal of a mobile station located at a service region of the micro cell. A micro cell base station transmits a micro cell forward signal provided from said micro cell signal processing unit to the mobile station to receive a micro cell reverse signal, and receives a macro cell reverse signal of the mobile station which is located at the macro cell and has a short wave path contrast to the macro cell. A macro cell signal processing unit transmits a forward signal to the mobile station through a macro cell antenna and processes the reverse signal provided from said macro cell antenna or said micro cell base station. A transit unit transits the macro cell reverse signal to the macro cell signal processing unit and transiting the signal between the micro cell base station and the micro cell signal processing unit.

A method for skipping advertisement broadcasting is provided. Whether or not it is advertisement broadcasting is determined using an program ID of received broadcasting contents. When it is advertisement broadcasting, the advertisement is skipped. During the advertisement broadcasting skipping, a multi tasking environment other than broadcasting viewing is provided. By skipping advertisement broadcasting during the broadcasting content recording, the recording results not including the advertisement is obtained.
