    Abstract: In the application of TDD and eIMTA to LTE in the unlicensed spectrum, various alterations may be needed to compensate for interference from and the behavior of RATs operating in this range of frequencies. Various UE and base station methods are presented, including modified TDD configurations and UE behaviors to advance operations on unlicensed spectrum. A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided whereby configuration information is conveyed to a UE for communicating on a carrier in the unlicensed spectrum. The configuration information indicates a subframe allocation for at least one frame on the unlicensed carrier. Other aspects are directed to the detection of the transmission, communication of new and modified eIMTA configuration transmissions, and mechanism and behaviors which address unreceived configuration information.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may identify a plurality of downlink carriers for a transmission time interval (TTI), e.g., a subframe. The base station may identify a period of inactivity for one or more of the plurality of downlink carriers during the TTI, which may correspond to one or more orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols of the subframe. The base station may transmit narrowband reference signals (NB-RSs) over the one or more carriers during the period of inactivity according to a channel reservation narrowband reference signal (NB-RS) pattern. The channel reservation NB-RS pattern may include a first set of time-frequency resources associated with a baseline NB-RS pattern and a second set of supplemental time-frequency resources associated with a period of inactivity.

    Abstract: Techniques for performing listen before talk (LBT) channel contention procedures in a shared radio frequency spectrum band are provided. The LBT techniques may include a shortened LBT procedure that may be selected if a base station has reserved a shared channel for a duration of expected user equipment (UE) uplink transmissions, and a full LBT procedure that may be selected if the base station has not reserved the channel for the duration of expected UE uplink transmissions. The shortened LBT procedure may include detecting energy levels of the channel for a relatively short time period relative to the full LBT procedure. The shortened LBT procedure may be selected if a time period between a UE receiving a grant of uplink resources and the beginning of the uplink resources is less than a threshold time value.

    Abstract: Techniques are described for wireless communication. A first method includes winning, at a UE, contention for access to a channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band; identifying a number of frequency resources of the band that are allocated to the UE for at least one uplink transmission following the winning contention for access; and transmitting a channel reservation signal using a set of frequency resources associated with the identified number of frequency resources. A second method includes winning, at a UE, contention for access to a channel of a shared radio frequency spectrum band; identifying a number of frequency resources of the band that are pre-designated by a base station for transmission of a channel reservation signal; and transmitting the channel reservation signal, after the winning contention for access, using a set of frequency resources associated with the identified number of pre-designated frequency resources.

    Abstract: Techniques for wireless communication are described. A method for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) includes identifying a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH) to transmit in an uplink pilot time slot (UpPTS) of a subframe, determining whether to transmit uplink control information (UCI) on the PUSCH in the UpPTS, and transmitting the PUSCH in the UpPTS based at least in part on the determining. A method for wireless communication at a network access device includes determining whether to schedule a transmission of UCI on a PUSCH in a UpPTS of a subframe, scheduling the PUSCH in the UpPTS based at least in part on the determining, and transmitting, to a UE, scheduling information for the PUSCH in the UpPTS.
